A Cute Toy Little Girls Love May 15, 2008 K. Carr (New York) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased the Pineapple Pup Fur Berry as a birthday gift for one of my daughter's friends. Her mother told me that it was one of her favorite gifts, and that she has been sleeping with it every night since her party and waking up smelling like yummy pineapple. (Apparently their dogs REALLY like the smell, too!) This was the fifth Fur Berry I had purchased, having gotten the Strawberry Spaniel, Grape Gabby, Tangerine Tabby, and Blueberry Bear for my girls. I have found them to be very durable, surviving lots of "conversions" from animal to berry. The smell is still noticable, albeit a bit less so, since the girls received them at Christmas. My daughters do play with them, probably a little more than they play with their "regular" stuffed animals. Overall, I'd say they are a cute stuffed animal with a novel twist.
OK for Younger Child January 14, 2008 Karen Ladd (Somers, CT) My 6 year old daughter wanted this for Christmas so I ordered it for her. She opened it up and hasn't touched it since. I think this would be better for a smaller child. It doesn't "do" anything. It doesn't stay opened. The smell of pineapple is very faint.
He is cute December 30, 2007 gramma, new york I got my 6 year old granddaughter this for christmas because she loved these fur berries. He is awfully cute but I was a little surprised that once it opened that it didn't do anything else. They do smell very yummy but to me its just another stuffed animal.
A Christmas "hot" toy for 2007! :) November 28, 2007 Starlet (Idaho, USA) Fur Berries are one of the hard-to-find and "hot" toys for the very littlest ones this Christmas...kids are begging to find these shy, sweet smelling, fruit-themed critters under the tree, and parents are scrambling to find them! Fur Berries come rolled up in their fruit shape and when removed from the package can be "popped" open to reveal a very cute animal. Fruit/animal choices are Blueberry/Bear, Cherry/Cub (bear), Strawberry/Spaniel, Pineapple/Puppy, Tangerine/Tabby, and Grape/Gabby (cat). The Fur Berries' wide spread appeal seems to stem from the adorable CGI commercials that show the little berry-animals rolling off a tree and opening to reveal the shy animal inside. The commercials have been very successful in creating a "craze" for these cuties among the toddler and early grade-school set...and when you get the animals home, your little one really won't be disappointed. The Fur Berries are fun for your little ones to open and close. Each time the toy is opened, your little one will be treated to her Fur Berries' smiling face and little paws which are opened in a "hug me" pose. :) The Fur Berries have very soft fur, fun fruit scents, and extremely cute faces. They are sweet, lovable, and once your little one has a Fur Berry of her very own, well, she'll want more. ;) The only downside to these sweet animal toys is that their berry "shell" is hard (but covered in soft fur); meaning the toy is not soft all over so care should be taken with very little ones if they throw or hit with their toys; however, the toy is suitable for little ones ages two and up. These very cute new toys will delight little ones this Christmas! :) I give this newest trendy toy five stars. :)
worth the money November 25, 2007 T. Bobick (MD) This toy has been advertised ALOT on daytime TV. I believe this is one reason they are selling so well. My 3 yr old asked for one for weeks. I was surprised to find them sold out online but I got the last one on the shelf at toys r us for $14.99. I actually expected it to cost a little more but I also expected a little more out of the toy.. The commercial gave me the impression that it would somehow pop open with a button or something. The discription for the toy on amazon.com actually says it pops open with the push of a button. This is not true. You have to pry apart the two halves and click it into position. My 3 year old could not get it to click into the open position by herself at first but she didn't give up and got it a few days later. She was actually very proud of this accomplishment! When he's in a ball his outer shell is hard plastic covered with fur. It's very tempting for a child to want to throw around the room but not a great idea for indoors or outdoors because it would get dirty. He's soft but not very cuddly at all. Despite these things he was added to my daughters VIP animal collection at once and she still loves it a month later, wants him in her bed every night, and wants an orange one. I've spent alot more on toys that don't get played with so I'd say it was worth the money.
