Product Description
Love 'N Licks puppies are cuddly companions who will never want to leave your side. When you pat their heads and rub their bellies, they respond to your love and attention by getting more and more excited. Their tails move faster, they kick their hind legs, and start to bark louder and louder. And when they are truly happy, they give you a big wet kiss!

This too-cute Cocker Spaniel puppy measures 9.5" long. Requires 4 "AA" batteries, not included.

3 out of 5 stars Requires more patience than an average six-year old   January 11, 2007

While the Puppy instructions are clear and concise (which is very helpful in filling the water reservoir) the interactive "pet points" are a little hard to find. Worse though is the amount of time required to pet the puppy in order to get it to start licking. Our real dog will start licking the moment you look at it, but the Love n' Licks Spaniel evidently requires a lot more lovin' than that, and takes much more patience (and petting) than the average six-year old has. This is even more difficult if you're trying to pet it and hold it in a position that will result in licks to the face.

1 out of 5 stars Major disappointment!!!   December 26, 2006

It seems like every Christmas there is one toy that is at the top of the list that is a major bust, and this year it is the Love N Licks Puppy!!! This was the only thing my 5 year old daughter really wanted, and she is so disappointed we can't get it to do anything than bark (or whine as it really sounds)! She is sad feeling like it's her fault, like she's not 'loving it enough'.
I thought maybe we had just gotten the one lemon, but it looks like they are all like this. I can't believe a manufacturer would put this out and set up so many kids for disappointment.
Major disappointment!! Don't waste your money or set your kids up to be extremely disappointed!

1 out of 5 stars too much work!   December 26, 2006

This is too difficult for my 5-year old to work. Initially I couldn't get it to work...it took 20 minutes of rubbing to get it to lick. Now I can get it to work much faster (5 minutes...still pretty long for a child) by rubbing EXTREMEMLY hard and fast. At first the tongue was not wet, but eventually after getting it to work several times, it did become wet (guess it takes a while for the water to work its way into the tongue?). Don't waste your money or disappoint your child.

1 out of 5 stars Taking advantage of kids and parents!   December 25, 2006

This dog looked so cute and fun in the commercials and it was the one of only two things my 4 year old really asked Santa for. Come Christmas morning, today, I open it and put the batteries in and all it did was whine and we were petting the head and chest hard. After about 3 minutes I did get it to bark then another 3 minutes later I got the tail to wag but the leg wouldn't shake for another 3 minutes. 20 minutes of trying to get it to do any thing at all it finally licked but the tongue was not wet and I did put water in it so it should have been wet. Then my daughter got mad because she couldn't get it to lick again. The dog doesn't even stand up like it appears to be doing on the box.. it just lays there. If you are buying this, be prepared to be paying for a highly priced stuffed animal because that is all it amounts to. I can't believe a manufacturer would put some thing like this out there so that kids can be disappointed on Christmas morning... this product should have just plainly been recalled.

1 out of 5 stars Takes to much work   December 25, 2006
Angela L. Merrill (Salt Lake City, UT)
So we just got this gift for Christmas for our 8 year old. Took me almost 10 minutes to get it to "lick." The review that mentioned rubbing hard helped. I shouldn't have to come to the reviews to figure that out. Once I got it to lick once I'm 5 minutes into trying to get it to do it again. Just WAY to much work. Not looking forward to Christmas morning and my 8 year old's almost assured disappointment.
