Product Description
Take your archery skills to the extreme with the awesome Big Bad Bow launcher Standing more than 2 tall and designed just like a real compound bow, this cool launcher can fire soft foam Nerf arrows up to 40 away Pull it back, aim and launch as you try out this extreme archeryNerf style Bow comes with 3 Nerf arrows, label sheet and instructions For ages 6 yrs. and up

Editorial Review
Nerf has entered into many parts of the world of sporting goods. Basketball, of course, and football being the most famous. But who would have ever thought that there would be Nerf archery? The whimsically and accurately titled Big Bad Bow comes with three hard foam rubber arrows that you pull back and launch (the packaging claims 40 feet, ours came up a little short of that but not by much). There's a target scope to help take careful aim at targets. Unlike archery, the arrows can't really stick to anything so you're better off using them to knock over pyramids and things like that. Also unlike a traditional bow and arrow, there's a trigger mechanism that actually does the firing. Still the traditional and low-tech approach is refreshing and, most importantly, fun. --Charlie Williams

5 out of 5 stars replacement arrows and more...   August 28, 2008
Carol A. Cooper (new jersey)
after taking the gun out of the box, i realized that the bow attachments (orange and black pieces) werent needed for the gun to work. my bow came with 6 arrows unlike many people who bought it at toy r us and only have 3. i bought mine as a target exclusive.

ive heard many complaints of broken arrows and not enough arrows.

FOR BROKEN ARROWS (ripped fins)

just take either super glue (what i used) or hot glue and put them back on. this will only take a few minutes.

FOR MORE ARROWS

nerf claims that they dont sell arrows and are basically impossible to purchase. i did some searching on the hasbro site and found how you can purchase more. you can go to the hasbro site, go to customer service, and on the left, it will say "replacement parts". find the nerf order form, print it out, and mail for more arrows. (i havent ordered more arrows so i dont know if theyre the same. ive heard and read that arrows are usable with all guns that use arrows.) heres the site ----> http://www.hasbro.com/default.cfm?page=cs_parts

the extra arrows can only be ordered through mail.

IF YOU DONT WANT TO USE ARROWS ANYMORE

you can use regular micro darts by simple cutting the front orange part with a hacksaw. they you can open the gun, and take the air restrictor (clear part with a small spring) out and close the gun back up. WARNING, by taking out the air restrictor, the gun will be more powerful, nearly shooting darts 50 feet.... also the gun will still use the arrows after this modification.

if you want to know more about the modification, simple search "big bad bow mod" or go to nerfhaven.com and find the gun in the modifications forum.

this nerf gun is probably one of the best and is pretty cheap.

I found a lot of mods for this guns so i thought why not buy it! i did and i don't regret it. i modified it to shoot micros instead of the big arrows. But without the mod it is almost useless in a nerf war. I am a kid and know what kids like so get this if you are a hard core nerfer.

4 out of 5 stars Big Bad Bow stands up to the test   November 29, 2007

I purchased this toy to use as apart of a game at my kids' school carnival. It proved to be one of the hits of the carnival as the kids got to practice their "archery". What impressed me more was it withstood numerous uses from tons of kids. If you want a long lasting toy, this would be it. The educational value may not be that great but sometimes a toy just needs to be FUN!

I got this as a christmas gift and participated in some of our neiborhood battles. It is quite powerful and fast for a nerf gun. Also, the scope is a nice touch. The only bad things are the arrows that it comes with. They would tear easily and break. Overall, this is a good nerf gun to beginners and pros alike.

5 out of 5 stars Whats with the Bad reviews?   April 10, 2007

Ok, this gun is not bad! The arrows may be quite terrible. All you do its buy mega darts, they fit into the end of the barrel and go farther. Also, To get some serious sniper range with this gun, You need to pull it open and put a new spring in it and remove the airs restictors. Then it gets great range. Trust me! and Dont buy it here, go to target its 20 bucks there
