5 out of 5 stars kite store owner: best kid kite available   October 26, 2008

i owned a kite store on a beach for 6 years. this kite was by far the best flying and most portable kite available for the price. I sold hundreds every year. there are no sticks. this small kite is a sled type of parafoil that gets structure from wind pressure on two opposing conical chambers.

you can fold this into your pocket. it will fly in low winds as well as really high winds. most small kites cannot handle any real wind. konvertible kite actually flies well in winds over 25 mph!

flies right out of your hand. i sold this on the beach with a "money back will fly guarantee". people flew them in front of me all day, for years. one came back under guarantee and i flew that exact kite over the store; the one that came back! also, easy for kids to hold and unbreakable.

this simple parafoil is one of the cheapest kites out there. if you only ever buy one kite, parafoils are the best all around kites. even cheap parafoils will last for years.

that said, an extra 5 or 10 dollars almost always get you a superior kite with more precise construction. this means it will fly better. kites made in USA are usually the highest quality however almost every kite you find will be made in china.

the best kite ever in my opinion is a 5 square foot parafoil (p-5). P-5's usually come with line, hoop winder, kite and bag for $25 to $40. a p-5 can pull too hard for small kids to hold. in strong winds even adults are amazed by how hard they can pull. i sold parafoils to sailors for their life rafts.
