1 out of 5 stars What this kite taught me...   May 18, 2007

I have been flying kites my whole life and I have never wasted more time or money on a kite than I did with this one. I was excited to purchase this item because it seems like it would be really cool. The plus side is that it is pretty cool looking and it's easy to assemble. Those are the only two good things about this kite.

I live in an area where there is enough wind to fly a kite 365 days a year and this kite would not fly. Oh sure it would get airborne, but it never made it higher than 10 feet off the ground. At about 10 feet it begins to dip and bob up and down on the line which looked really cool! Like a dragon in flight swooping and diving! Then it would do one of two things... either dive right into the dirt or it would begin flying in circles so sporadicly that you can't even grab the line or it will cut your fingers. Once it begins flying in circles it begins tangling itself in the line, and also in the plastic flight tails which are sewn on to the end of the nylon tail... Once the kite has made sure it is nice and tangled it slams itself into the dirt, then providing much frustration and untangling time.

This was the first Ripstop Nylon kite I have ever bought and I will never buy another "3D Fantasy" Kite. The fact that it's 3D is probably what makes it so unflyable. Sure, Box kites are 3D too but not in the style that this one is.

I wasted a whole afternoon trying to get this into the air with the same result every time. I repeat! This kite is a huge was of money and time! All it is good for is frustrating fliers and crashing into the ground!
