Editorial Review Castle Swing along Climber Building an actual castle can be awfully time consuming (just ask the medieval serfs). Fortunately this outdoor play set offers a nice alternative that's probably a whole lot more fun anyway. Done up in reds and browns, it features a telescope (just a plastic tube but effective enough for a kid's imagination), ship-style steering wheel, tunnels to climb through, a rock hill to climb up, and a slide to go down. There's also a bucket swing with a three-point safety belt. Built more with smaller kids in mind, it would make a nice addition to the backyard and assembles fairly easily. --Charlie Williams
Product Description Your tiny knight or princess will enjoy playing on the whimsical Little Tikes Swing along Castle. A fun telescope swivels 360 degree and the sturdy swing includes a 3-point safety belt. The gently sloping slide is built for soft landings, while a simple climbing wall offers extra fun for beginning explorers. The captain's wheel and cutouts for holding on or playing peek-a-boo add to the appeal of this inside or outdoor play set. It can be assembled in less than 20 minutes. It measures 50.25 H x58.5 W x41.25 D".

Not impressed for the money spent October 6, 2008 Megan O. Linklater (Arlington, Wa USA) This products age range should read 6 -14 months. My 16 month old loves the slide but wants nothing to do with the swing. She is already into the bigger swings at the park that swing higher and faster. This swing would be perfect for younger babies. Again, she does love the slide. I do wish the slide was longer though, pretty short. We did dettach the swing so she just has the slide to play with.
Good for 1-2 Year-Olds August 29, 2008 C.Miller (San Diego, CA) This toy is recommended for children 1-4 years right on the box. Well, I would only rate it for 1-2 years because it's just not durable at all. The slide has popped off (in fact, as I type, it's laying out on its own in the grass) and it's rickety. Perhaps a gentle 1-2 year old would not be too heavy or rough on it. I have had 3 year olds on it, and while they like it, it's not durable. My husband, who is very mechanical put it together, and so I know it's as good as it gets. But I often see it leaning after use, and as I said the slide pops off all the time.
toy June 20, 2008 Fess (Cleveland , Ohio) The Set arrived dented. Other then that the child is enjoying swinging on it. As she gets older, I' sure she will use the slide.
some major design flaws May 10, 2008 M. Walden OK, they need to curve the end of the slide. My kiddo either lands on his feet because the slide is so steep and short and straight, then pops onto his face because of the speed the rest of his body is still moving at, or goes down the slide with his feet up and slams straight onto his butt. This is fine if you have a slippery padded gym mat under it, but not so great on carpet or wood or even grass. And I'm not sure how great that is for the babies long term to jolt that much shock through their spines if they are playing with this often (which you'd hope at this price). The swing looks good but only swings backwards. It does move forward and backward, but if you are in front of you child pushing him, it really only swings from the straight position to the back and back to the center position, because of the way the metal bars are bent. You can PULL them forward, but just pushing them it doesn't work that way. Plus the seat is so upright that when they sit in it, it automatically swings back a bit (makes it easy for them to stand out of it when they are unbuckled) -- so it's not the easiest to buckle them in, and they end up sitting uncomfortably after swinging a while. Sorry I"m not explaing this well but I would try this out at a brick and mortar shop before ordering it to see if it's really what you think you are getting. Yes, there is space to crawl underneath but it is really small. And if they crawl out one side, they'll run into the swing. The steering wheel (on a castle?? this is not a ship!!) seems to be fun to them, and the telescope seems to hold some interest (tilts and rotates), but those alone aren't worth the $$ and floor space. My toddler loves swings, loves slides, but not this one. You'd think Little Tikes has so much experience making these kinds of toys they would have perfected it by now, but this is really a step backwards for them. For a younger toddler, you have to be there all the time within arms' reach. For older toddlers, the swing is stupid and the rest of it boring.
Buy the Little Tikes Climb & Slide Castle INSTED! March 19, 2008 C. Frey (BC, Canada) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We have had this toy for about 3 years. It was a gift from my Mother for my son who was 8-1/2 months old at the time. The slide is great, my son never had problem climbing and sliding over and over. BUT the seat of the swing broke after a short time where the screws are. I ended up just taking the swing portion off. What we were left with was the Little Tikes Climb & Slide Castle which is cheaper to buy and takes up less room. Save some money and buy that one insted of this one.
