Product Description It's 2 toys in 1! As a sturdy, stable walker, the Step Start Walk 'n Ride toy helps babies learn to stand, take their first steps, and walk. As the grow older, it easily converts to a first ride-on toy! It has a locking mechanism that only parents can activate, so children can't change modes by themselves. Kids can explore the hands-on activities in both the walker and ride-on modes to see fascinating sights, hear silly sounds and touch interesting textures. Adult assembly required
Editorial Review When little wobblers are bored with walls and sofa edges, and there's no one to offer a hand, they can two-foot it safely across that open ocean of living-room floor with the help of the Step Start walker. This dual-purpose toy acts as stable support as they learn to walk, then lets them roll along when they want to ride. Once they are secure on their legs, the walker converts easily to a first ride-on toy. (Only adults can operate the wheel-lock mechanism.) A flexible antenna, spinning drum, clicking gear, and other sight-touch-sound features provide sit-down play fun. Assembly requires a Phillips screwdriver. --Ava Natov

My son still loves this toy! December 3, 2008 A. Soto My son is 15 months old and still loves to push this around...except that now he runs through the house with it. He started walking at 10 months and this walker was good for him because it doesn't move super fast for a beginning walker (it's only when he learned how to run that was he able to push it faster; also, he never had a problem with it on tile or hardwood). We had another walker that was pretty loose and didn't work for him for awhile. Even though this toy doesn't have a lot of doo-dads and gizmos, he has enjoyed playing with it even before he could walk. He likes the ride-on function, but his legs are kind of long for it and he hasn't quite grasped the concept yet of using his feet to propel him forward. But he loves when we push him! Overall, this is a very useful, durable, and long-lasting toy for a boy who is rough on toys. We definitely have gotten our money's worth!!
Wonderful! November 29, 2008 Mrs. Featherstone My 10 month old daughter loves this toy. We just aim it in the right direction and away she goes. She has gained more confidence since using this toy. She loves the activities...opening the door, spinning the rattle. She absolutely loves it. She is too young to ride on it though.
Great Toy for Beginning Walkers November 29, 2008 C. North (Michigan) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a great toy for a baby that is steady on their feet but a little unsure of walking unassisted. My son loves to push it around. I would not recommend it on hard wood floors for a baby that is not fairly steady on their feet, the wheels move pretty fast when the carpeting is not there to slow them.
She didn't learn to walk with this...I can tell you that! November 26, 2008 Contrary2 (Metairie, LA USA) I bought this walk n ride for my youngest when she was almost ready to walk (about 11 months). She wouldn't fool with it too much but instead use the shopping cart I had when my oldest was young. She preferred the shopping cart even though it moved more quickly but she would always reach for the shopping cart first. I still have the walk n ride but its sitting in the backyard. I seem to remember her feet tripping on the wheels while using as a walker. I think there are better walkers out there.
It's only OK November 24, 2008 Kat (San Francisco, CA) When my 11 month old son decided that walking around pushing around a rectangle laundry basket was the best mode of transportation, my mom decided that her grandson should have a proper walking toy to play with instead of the "ghetto version". Besides - it was on sale. Needless to say, after finally figuring out how to use this Walk 'n Ride, my son still prefers to cling onto chairs, laundry baskets, and even small garbage cans to push around. While it's not a total loss as he enjoys pushing this toy around while crawling, I really don't think he actually cares much for this toy. I actually wouldn't recommend buying a walker/pushing toy like this for a kid - it seems like my son is learning how to walk faster by trial and error on regular household items.
