Editorial Review
Ring up the fun with the Teaching Cash Register! A perfect addition to any pretend store, this talking cash register helps teach basic math and money skills through creative play. Filled with engaging activities and a drawer stashed with life-size (make-believe) cash, the Teaching Cash Register helps kids make sense of currency with a coin reader that identifies both real and plastic coins. Other features include a generous LCD screen that shows transaction values in large, easy-to-read numbers, a working scale, and a scanner for pretend coupons and credit cards. Four interactive learning games take kids through multiple levels of play, increasing in difficulty as players advance their math skill levels. Large buttons help little fingers total up the orders, while lights and sounds capture the imagination. Winner of numerous awards, including an Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Platinum Award, the interactive Teaching Cash Register develops logic, reasoning, and coin recognition skills, and helps animate lessons about addition, subtraction, counting money, making change, and decimal usage. Measuring approximately 14 by 9-3/4 by 9 inches, the Teaching Cash Register requires 3 C batteries (not included) to power its playful "ka-ching!" --Heather Lyndon

5 out of 5 stars Excellent high quality learning toy   December 2, 2008
g.mom (TX,USA)
I bought this for my very bright 6 yr old daughter and let me say it is wonderful. She plays store for hours and loves it! It is made very sturdy and of high quality materials, has many learning functions and is as realistic as they get. Great buy, worth every penny, will exceed your expectations. Would buy again.

4 out of 5 stars Having fun while learning   November 24, 2008

Our 4 year old grand-daughter has so much fun playing store and using this cash register. She especially likes hearing the names of the coins, plastic or real, and scanning products. The little scale platform doesn't stay on very well but that is the only problem.

This cash register has been great. It was originally a gift my daughter received but my 4 year old son uses it constantly. They play 'restaurant' and 'store' for hours, taking each others orders and asking, "is there anything I can help you with?" It is awesome, we all get to have fun with their pretend store. (I'm really glad I didn't eat all the stuff I have ordered from them over the years.)

This cash register is the catalyst for their little entrepreneurial ventures, they've sold everything from imaginary bunk beds in a furniture store, they've sold me my own car once, to starting a pet store with stuffed animals. They, and their friends, have all learned to be polite sales people and patient customers. All the while counting, and using the keyboard calculator.

This is one of those toys that we will keep after they have finished with it and bring it out for them when they have kids. "Do you remember this one?" "Oh yeah! I remember that."

5 out of 5 stars Awesome toy!   August 3, 2008
Bridgette King (Chicago, IL)
I really searched for the best cash register and while this one was a bit more money it was so worth all the wait. My 3 1/2 year old Son loves it and we all have so much fun shopping with items in the house. Best features that others don't have:
*You can use real money in the coin counter bank.
*Several money games that teach. Covers all ages, always something to grow into.
*Contains a real calculator so you can actually use it for a lemonade stand or a garage sale.
*You don't have to buy special products to shop with or use special stickers to make it scan. It will scan anything.
*It has an awesome coupon and credit card. Kids see us use ours all the time so of couse they want an ATM card as well.
BUY IT BIY IT BUY IT! You won't be sorry!

4 out of 5 stars Fun and educational   July 28, 2008

We purchased this for my 2-1/2 year old daughter and she loves it. The first one we received had a problem - when you put a quarter in the coin slot, it said "nickel." Through Amazon they quickly sent another that worked accurately, and we were able to return the other with ease. Great toy that will grow with her and teach math skills along the way.
