Powerful light with a flimsy clip November 26, 2008 m_deez (Los Angeles, CA, United States) Great light for nighttime use, lasts about 4-5 hours on rechargeable 2300 mAh Duracells. The clip is garbage though. The light is very bulky due to the 4 AA batteries being housed in the body, and the clip's swivel is not adjustable. The ridiculously small screw that held the base and clip together broke after 4 months of light usage (used the light maybe twice a week).
Good Light, Poor Mount September 16, 2008 WestfordPete (Westford, MA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought one of these back in Sept 2007. The lights work OK (though they seem to drain the batteries faster than a Planet Bike Super Spot). My problem was that a good bounce or accidental hit to the light caused the thin molded mounting fins on the light body to break off. I went thru two lights in about two weeks. It must be a design flaw. I now have two very nice hand held flash lights.
Hard to break August 18, 2008 Edward Baines 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
For the money, one of the brightest. I use it as my primary and it is nice unless I get to moving fast. Today was the best testimony. Was riding at dawn. I had taken it off to use as a flashlight and had not re-mounted it solidly. It fell off, I ran over it and I looked back it was in pieces. I put the pieces back together and it works fine - a bit scratched up but works fine. I am now in the debate to buy another and run twins or go to one of the high $$ units.
Close to perfect June 29, 2008 ROY PFINGSTEN (Sacramento, Ca. United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Except for the rather useless side lights that waste energy, this is a very nice system. I love the fact that this system uses generic AA batteries, and since the similar rechargeable system is a NiMh system (vs a lithium battery system), you are much better off buying this light and 4 DuraCell 2,650 NiMh AA batteries for $10. Rechargeable NiMH Batteries, 2650mAH, AA size, 8 batteries per pack DC1500 Not only will you then have a more powerful battery system, (which you can upgrade over time) but you can buy a general-purpose charger and those batteries for less than the price difference AND power this light with "Joe's Bait & Tackle" AA cells (sold at any wide spot in the road in the developed world) in a pinch. The same AA batteries will also power your camera, camp lights, radios etc. Proprietary battery systems are to be avoided at all costs. La Crosse Technology BC700 Alpha Power Battery Charger I think it's possible to snip one of the "legs" of the side LEDs to disable them, and thereby keep them from wasting energy. In their place I plan to use a 2nd flashing Fi:zik seat-mount red light which runs on 2032 button cell batteries. Fizik Blin:k Bicycle Tail Light w/Integrated Clip - Silver - F1702601 I then have a backup for my rear light and the spare button cells I carry for my wireless Sigma computer, speed sensor, cadence sensor and rear light can go in that light as well. Just use some electrical tape or a zip-tie to attach it to the top or bottom of this light.
which one you get? April 27, 2008 Bartok Kinski (Prague) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
