Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Product Description
Does your child love to dig in the backyard? Well put away the shovels and put on the hardhat--the Kettler Cat front loader and backhoe is ready to do the heavy lifting. The mini-Cat looks just like the real thing, but is small enough to fit in a large sandbox (though it's best suited for a slightly larger area, like the beach). Once seated, your child can use the levers to operate the fully functional front loader, letting him or her scoop up big chunks of sand, dirt, or snow. Or he/she can hop on the back end and take the back hoe digger--with its stabilizer foot--for a spin. And the mini-Cat is no slouch when it comes to getting around, with a fully enclosed chain drive system and oversized resin tires with long-lasting rubberized tread strips. Built with high-impact resin and featuring an adjustable seat, the Cat front loader/backhoe measures 65 by 30 by 21 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a three-year residential warranty (one-year institutional).

5 out of 5 stars Excellent outdoor fun!   November 29, 2008
B. Mini
My son has hours of fun with this construction vehicle. The release and lock button for the backhoe is a bit tricky. Other than that he seems to enjoy every second when he plays with it. Durable. I would rate it a medium on putting it together. Great toy!

4 out of 5 stars Good size for a 3+ year old.   September 20, 2008
R. Jensen (Payson, UT USA)
When I first opened the package and saw all the pieces and poor instructions (pictures only type instructions), I was a little discouraged. But once I got strated, the assembly was actually really easy. I was able to put it together by myself in about an hour. The hardest part of assembly for me was the sticker placement. For the most part you only got one shot. If I tried to reposition them, they would tear. Even though it's mostly plastic, it seems to be pretty sturdy. It has enough to keep a little ones interest for a good while. And the option to buy extra accessories is nice. The only things I wish it had were a working horn, a gas cap/hole, a fake key of some sort and maybe a spot for a drink holder, as these type of extras seem to please most little ones. I would recommend this product to a friend as long as the price was not over $275.

3 out of 5 stars Not a bad product   July 29, 2008

I think the concept of this toy of awsome. However, we got it for my son's 3rd birthday and we realize this toy is a little too much for him at this age. The toy makes really wide turns making it difficult for him to ride it even in the driveway. The front loader is too heavy for him to use while sitting on the seat. The back hoe has too many steps to be ale to set up and use (unlock this while pulling up on that, then turn this and unlock another part, etc...). He really does enjoy using the back hoe in the dirt afer you get it set up. Maybe he will enjoy it more when as he gets older.

5 out of 5 stars It's a Toy.   April 5, 2008

My Husband and I ordered this for our 5 year old son, who is obsessed with heavy equipment. After reading the review I was nervous of a couple of things,,,
-Would it be big enough
-Would it be sturdy
-Would we be able to assemble it
The answer to all these are yes. My son is not a huge kid but there is still room to grow for him, (40lbs)I can even sit on it at 120lbs and it doesn't feel well too weird, except that I'm sitting on a toy.
For a toy this is very sturdy, the shiny plasticky look scared me into thinking it would be flimsy, but it is not. He does 180's with it and flips it into the air. He runs into things like mad and none of the parts bend including the attachments.
Now construction, this was a shock for me to believe all the problems people were having. Now I'm open to the possibility that maybe the directions have changed since it came out. This took us less than an hour to assemble including the stickers. Now, we also were talking with German voices, and having a blast. So I think if this needed to be assembled quickly it could be done within a half hour. It was not frustrating at all for us, sure colored directions would be nice, but unnecessary.
So overall I am very pleased with this purchase, oh and the shipping time was not bad at all. If anybody is concerned about ordering through here I actually ordered mine through Northerntools.com

5 out of 5 stars My 2 year old plays with this tractor everyday   January 18, 2008
Tara (Georgia)
We got this tractor for our two year old for Christmas and he loves it. But I would recommend not putting the stickers on if your child likes to pick at things. My husband spent an hour putting on the stickers and our son spent five minutes putting them off.
