4 out of 5 stars I love to make cloth dolls   June 20, 2008
Pawn 2 Queen (Bronx, NY USA)
I became interested in cloth dolls after I made a couple of elinor
peace bailey's patterns. I bought two issues of Soft Dolls & Animals
and decided it was time to subscribe. Some experienced doll
makers complain that there are too many beginner patterns but that
suits me fine. There are also intermediate and advanced patterns in
each issue. Technique lessons are part of the pattern instructions as
well as individual articles on techniques. There are also many
pictures of dolls to inspire you.

I uploaded an image of my interpretation of Faisal, a beginner doll,
designed to represent the element of fire. It's the first of a series
of the four elements, the others being earth, air and water. In addition
to the cloth doll patterns in the June/July 2008 issue there was one
of a teddy bear made by needle felting.

Luscious color photos, filled with amazing tips and patterns! For any cloth doll maker or even cloth doll collector. I only wish I had known about this one before I ordered another doll magazine in the same price range. Well worth the annual rate!!!

5 out of 5 stars Soft Doll Adventure   September 14, 2003

I just purchased my first issue of this magazine. To my delight, it contains full size patterns for several dolls, as well as very detailed, illustrated articles on how to make each individual feature of the dolls. This is a project I have wanted to tackle for some time, and thanks to this magazine, I now have the confidence to get started. My first project is not yet complete, but I can already tell this is going to be a good one. The dolls in this magazine are not toys, and they are not simple to make. If you want something for your grandbaby to chew on, this is not for you. These are very complex, soft sculptures. However, the directions are so complete, even a first timer like me can follow along, and achieve success.
