I got this game for about 23.00, and of course soon as I order it Amazon drops the price $5.00 to about 18.00. This just made the experience a little more sour. We have a family, except for my husband, who really likes to play games. When I read the other reviews I thought, 'great a game that will be fun for everyone, including my husband who just seems to put up with playing games to make everyone else happy'. However, it was a very large disappointment due to its sketchy rules and need for an exacting answer. Playing it turned our gaming night into a disaster....so I guess we won't be pulling it out to play a second time.

Part of the problems revolved around when the second team tries for points the first team missed. Rules are not clear on the time allotted for the second team's go at it. Also, all I kept hearing about from my daughter was that none of the questions were from her 'generation', mind you she is 30 years old.She felt it was stilted for older generations. I personally disagree her because I felt a lot of the questions were not only from 'her' life time, but also some were from very early in my life time. I feel that was an attempt to make it multi-generational and her team got quite a few answers right.

Anyway, though this game is called lively, addictive and challenging. I personally didn't feel it was any of these things. Our family plays games around the table every weekend so we are pretty into games. Can't really recommend this one. I don't see how younger children could relate to it at all for the most part.

5 out of 5 stars Our #1 Party Game   July 10, 2008

The fun doesn't end. Buzz word is high pressure, high fun, and our new go to game. It is very similar to Outburst, and if you like Outburst you'll love Buzz Word.

It's a team game and the teams can be as big as you like. I would suggest at least 4 players per team to make it interesting. The game consists of about 500 cards with a "Buzz Word" and 10 clues. Each team has a reader (everyone takes turn being the reader) while the others guess. The reader first announces the buzz word (e.g. "ball"), then he proceeds to read the clues on the card (e.g. "On top of spaghetti"), then the team shouts out the answers bearing in mind that the answer must contain the buzz word (e.g. meatball). There is a timer, so the quicker and clearer the reader can give clues and the quicker the team guesses the better chance they have of getting all 10 words.

It is loads of fun. Having a team makes it especially great because there is usually gonna be someone that comes through in the clutch when everyone else is stumped. This game can be played over and over again and you will never tire of it.

4 out of 5 stars Fun Game! The Timer is what gets you!   December 20, 2007

I won't repeat what others have said, but what I will say is two things:
1. Use an electronic kitchen timer. This will save squabbling and gives the cluegiver a better judge on time
2. This game would be easy without a time limit. It's the 45-second limit which makes this game so hard. Having to decide when to give up the ghost on a clue and go on to the next is part of the fun. I highly recommend this!
