My daughter loves the LPS digital pets line. Again, this was purchased on sale for Christmas. The premise is that you have to feed, play and put to bed your pet. IT is like a Tamagotchi only cuter! You pretty much roam through the town and park. She clicks on bushes and find frisbees and plays with her kitten. The fish on the right hand side when pressed feeds the kitten. We still haven't figured out what the knob on the left does.
Overall, very cute, but will not hold an adults attention for long. I feel it teaches them some sort of responsibility.

My daughter got this for her 6th birthday and loves it. She plays with it all the time especially in the car. Her siblings love to play with it too. All the kids at school talk about them and have a lot of fun with them.
