Fun Toy January 7, 2008 Art (Bucks County, PA) I bought it for my nephew who's 8years old. He loved playing with it. I can't rate durability since it's only a few weeks since he received it. It's got some great features. The only change I would make is an on/off switch for the specialty background sounds/music. It has an auto shut-off which is great if you accidently leave it on, but annoying when you're done playing because you have to listen to it drone on for a bit before it shuts off. Overall, a really neat toy.
I'm not the 8 yr old who received it December 30, 2007 He was very excited to open this on Christmas morning. I hope it stands up. His parents will have to watch that.
This is a kid's toy noise maker--not a digital drum for learners December 29, 2007 Tracy Porter (VA United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I cannot say how disappointed I am with this product. I purchased this product thinking that it would be a digital drum set that my 5 year old could start learning to play the drums on rather than buying him a large drum set that would take up a lot of space in our house. The main problem with this digital drum is that there is a lag between when the drum stick strikes the drum head and when the digitized sound is heard. So, nobody could ever really learn to play the drums with this unless they turned the sound off and just hit the sticks on the pads. Well, I could have given him a set of drum sticks and some pots and pans for that matter. This is a toy and don't waste your time getting this for older kids becuase it is just going to embarrass them. Did I mention this was just a toy noise maker?
Not worth the money December 27, 2007 A. Lehmann (Fairfield, OH, USA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought this drum for my 5 year old son who LOVES to drum on the few drums he's already got. I was hoping to lessen the "headache" factor of his love of drumming by buying a high-quality drum machine that he could experiment with and use headphones with (so he can hear himself, but I don't have to). Well - what a disappointment! The drum sounds are not even loud enough to hear over the sound of the sticks hitting the pads. And the drum "response" is terrible - half the time you hit the pads it doesn't respond accurately. I am left wishing I had spent more money on something better. Oh- and this doesn't come with headphones - you have to buy those separately.
You get what you pay for December 26, 2007 Sarah Adams (Tennessee, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
One of the pads on this set stopped working after only 24 hours of use, and I'm glad. Now we can return it and get something better. This is a good fiddle-around toy, but it's not a real drum set. The pads are plastic, so, first of all, there's an unpleasant, sharp tap that accompanies the electronic sound every time you hit a pad. Secondly, you don't get the bounce needed to do a drum roll or other "real" drumming. I wish we had spent money and gotten a real set and not a toy.
