Barbie IDesign Style Sorter by a Mom Who Knows Barbie Toys January 6, 2009 S. Mcnelly (North Texas) The kids loved this toy. It was one of their favorite Christmas gifts and could not wait to open it. It is a great idea, it just does not slide very well and the components inside are not durable enough to last very long. The sliding feature of the machine jams and so therefore the kids force the slider along...and that is not going to last. As a mom who has bought plenty of toys for the kids, I should have known better. It is a Barbie toy. And Barbie toys NEVER do what they say or work how the commercial shows it. It is cheap, doesn't work very well and it has only been out of the box for a week. I do not see this toy lasting very long. We also have the computer toy version because my kids could not wait to slide those cards down the little credit card looking slider machine. I am afraid to open the toy because I am afraid it will not work how it is advertised. I am afraid it will be a cheap rip off just like the style sorter.
Great idea, just not very durable. August 14, 2008 Jillian Carr (PA) I bought this for my soon-to-be 6 year old daughter. She loves fashion. She has wanted this toy for awhile, and I finally caved in and bought it for her. It is a really great idea, and she loves it, however, the cards get bent up pretty easily, which makes them no longer work in the slider, as they get caught. I still like this toy for her, and she and her sisters have fun making outfits. I guess if you keep extra cards on hand for when these ones get bent up, it wouldn't be so bad, just expensive. :) Overall, I'd recommend this toy to others, just remember to keep the cards up when not in use, and explain over and over to your child to be very careful with the cards.
very entertaining February 21, 2008 Tina Baker 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My five year old loves this. If you have a girl who is really into fashion, she will too. It is very portable too so great for throwing in a bag and keeping a young girl entertained while you are out and about. Only negatives are that sometimes the cards stick in the machine and I wish you could buy additional packs of cards for more fashions. Overall, though, I still highly recommend the product because you will get a lot of use out of it for a relatively low price. I like it better than the computer version because it can be done anywhere and with little to no intervention from the parent. (But you may want to play with it too because it is fun!)
Great Idea --- But go for the computer idesign model February 5, 2008 P. Finley (Olathe, KS) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I went with the slider first since it is less expensive than the computer version and I wanted to see if my 5 year old would like it. She loves the concept of putting together the outfits. The downside of this one is that it scratches the cards and so they get really dirty quickly. I ended up taking them out and just letting her go and make them up without the slide sorter. I ended up purchasing the computer program that allows you to upload them to the computer and have runway shows and see the fashions on the computer screen. She adores this and it is a good way to get her to clean her room and other small chores so she can build these outfits and play with them online. Heck I even had a good time doing it. Overall this is a nice additon but I would just buy the larger kit and then some cards separte and have fun.
