Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Product Description
The original kick scooter, the Razor A is a handy little ride for kids and teens alike. Though it'll never replace the internal combustion engine, the scooter will get your child from point A to point B much quicker than on foot alone, and requires just a few scoots of one's shoes in the process. Plus, it's a blast to use, as your progeny will likely attest.

The Razor A is built of aircraft-grade aluminum, a sturdy material that holds up to use and abuse through the years. Its T-tube and deck, meanwhile, fold up into a compact footprint, so riders can fit the scooter inside a bag or carry it at their side when riding isn't appropriate (it weighs around 6 pounds). And thanks to the 98mm inline-style urethane wheels, ABEC 5 bearings, and patented rear fender brake, riders will always feel smooth and in control when kicking along the sidewalk.

Recommended for ages 5 and older, the Razor A will support a rider up to 143 pounds. It's also backed by a six-month warranty. For the next step up, try the Razor A2 Scooter.

When you're done riding, the Razor A folds down to a nicely compact size.
Specifications:
  • Scooter material: Aircraft-grade aluminum tube and deck
  • Wheel size: 98mm
  • Wheel bearings: ABEC-5
  • Brakes: Rear fender
  • Allen wrench: 5mm (not included)
  • Handlebar height: 33 inches (wheel to handlebar)
  • Weight: 6 pounds
  • Maximum rider weight: 143 pounds
  • Suspension: No
  • Wheelie bar: No
  • Kickstand: No
  • Folded dimensions: 23.75 x 4 x 7.25 inches
The buyer and rider of the Razor A scooter are responsible for knowing and obeying all local, state, and federal regulations regarding the riding and use of scooters.

5 out of 5 stars Superb   December 2, 2008
apoem (Bosque Farms, NM USA)
We have three of these, one for each kid. They have been well used by all three children and have held up well to the use. They fold down to a very slim size that fits well under our seats or in our trunk. We have had them for some time and the children are able to fold them up and open them up without extra help from mom and dad (always a plus).

The one negative that I have found is that if you get the lever that is used to lock the scooter open (or closed) at all dirty it will jam and not open or shut very easily. A quick clean will fix this, but it is something to watch for.

A small adult can easily use this with no difficulties. If you are a heavier adult or tall, you might want to look for a sturdier scooter meant to hold adults.

Well worth the money.
Enjoy.

4 out of 5 stars Razor A Kick Scooter - The Lightest And The Sleekest   November 30, 2008
Mark (East Coast)

The Razor A Kick Scooter is a very good value as far as scooters go. If you're looking for the lightest scooter out there, this is it. This guy is priced very well and has a variety of color options. Most importantly, the aluminum construction is light and durable. This thing can fold up to a very sleek flat size that will probably fit in a larger gym bag.

But because it is so sleek, the foot rest is rather thin. The handle bars are also somewhat light and narrow. So it's perfect for younger kids and kids who are lighter or have smaller hands and feet. But as your kids age, they will outgrow this.

The wheels have ABEC-5 bearings, which any skater will tell you are capable of going relatively high speeds. Not to mention, it's so light this thing could pick up speed quickly. It's worth the time to train your kids on safety before you give this to them. Because of some of these features, they should not be going downhill at high speeds because the brake is not designed for stopping under those conditions.

This guy is also missing a kickstand, but since it folds flat that's not a really big deal. The rear brake is also somewhat *bare bones* but once again probably perfect for the size.

If you use this scooter right, it's probably the perfect starter. For kids up to 10 years old, this will probably be enough, but if your kids are older you should step up to one of the bigger and better models.

I have been looking into a variety of the scooters on the market for the Christmas holiday, and so far I'm pretty impressed with the Fuzion Asphalt Ultimate Carving Machine Scooter and Fuzion Carbon 4 Wheeled Carving Scooter. Those guys have a much wider base and a more stable 4 wheel structure.

So this Razor A Kick is still a great value and a very nice unit. Just make sure it's the right fit for your kids based upon age and height.

Enjoy.

5 out of 5 stars great   November 24, 2008

razors are great product - we've owned several - durable - after a while it does get a little hard to fold it in half but if you occasionally put a little WD-40 on hinge - should help.

4 out of 5 stars One Step Before That Skateboard   November 21, 2008
Martin A Hogan (San Francisco, CA.)
For kids who aren't old enough to handle a skateboard, but still want to be out rolling along with the neighborhood kids, this is your answer. The `Razor A Kick Scooter' is perfect for those 5 and older. Made of aircraft-grade aluminum, with 4" heavy-duty urethane wheels, adjustable comfortable handlebars, and a patented rear fender brake, this little scooter will make any youngster mobile and happy. It comes in several colors and folds up into a six-pound storable package. Scooters are almost an American tradition and kids love the feel of freedom when playing around the neighborhood or playground.

5 out of 5 stars So far so good   November 10, 2008

Purchased for my son's 5th birthday. Essentially no assembly required. I thought he might not be old enough for it, but he took off right away and has had a blast on it so far. He wants to ride it every day. I would definitely recommend this product.
