5 out of 5 stars Lots of Fun!   January 6, 2009
L. Kipilii (Hilo, HI USA)
I purchased this violin for my 2 year old daughter as one of her Christmas gifts. She knew what a violin was, since she learned about it on Sesame Street & she'd always make pretend that she was playing one. I ordered this one, since it was reasonably priced, the colors were vibrant, and because of the different features/songs it had. It was such a joy to see my daughter's eyes light up on Christmas Day as she opened her gift. She said, "Mommy, look. It's a violin and a bow." My husband took it out of the box for her & she immediately knew how to hold it & started playing it. My daughter's thrilled, therefore, so is mommy! I am quite pleased that I made this purchase, thanks!

3 out of 5 stars Kids Like to Treat it Bad   January 4, 2009
Rageaholicdad (Virginia)
Let me say first this thing is pretty durable and my kids have pretty much beat it like crazy. My three year old and one year old have a field day with throwing it around but it still plays like new. I have yet to see one of them actually piece together about when I play my violin compared to theirs but they still enjoy it. They are rough with it but it is a kids toy than again so its expected and I am amazed it still works. For the price I kind of got what I paid for and I didn't expect a love for music to come from pretending to play a toy. The absolute biggest gripe I have is this thing runs through batteries like crazy so you might want to use rechargeable. It comes with a bow that when you take it across close to the bridge it plays. I think it plays individual notes up to the finish of the little bit of the song that's on it. It does have quick bits of classic tunes on it and flashing lights but other than that not much else.Even though they haven't really showed an interest in the violin it is nice that they can get an idea of what I do even though its not pieced together yet.

3 out of 5 stars good if no musical intentions   November 13, 2008
V. Sharpe (Atlanta, GA)
My son got this violin a few months before he started actual violin lessons. It really set him back because he did not understand that you cannot briskly treat a real violin in the same method as a toy. I would not recommend this unless you have no intention of giving your kid music lessons.

4 out of 5 stars My nephew is enjoying his violin!   November 2, 2008
H. Wright (Atlanta, GA)
My nephew just turned three and he loves play his violin. I am hoping he will want to play the violin as he gets older as well as other music instruments. I ordered this violin and it arrived so quick, and I didn't even select express shipping.

5 out of 5 stars Toy Violin   October 11, 2008
R. A. Doak (Maryland)
This is a great toy violin, we bought it for our 20 month old so he would have one to play when our 4 year old practices her suzuki violin. It has proven to be a great toy for all ages. One feature, allows the player to use the bow to the tempo of an existing song (say, Vivaldi) and thus, learning the timing and rythm. This was a great toy- I wished I had bought it 2 years ago. It has a volume control of loud and less loud, and also has an off switch (which is crucial).
