5 out of 5 stars My daughter loves music   August 30, 2008
Nersel Zur Muehlen (hoboken, nj)
My 15 month old daughter really likes this xylophone, she played with it the whole day when I first gave it to her. She loves music and to dance. If your child is into music this is a nice toy. She does not play with it as much anymore as her attention span is pretty short.

5 out of 5 stars tuned to non-western scale, not "untuned!"   August 25, 2008
melindabobinda (minneapolis)
This is a great toy. My daughter is 5 and it's still hard for me to part with it. It is durable, soft (unlike most really loud xylophone toys) and wonderful for infants, with its lack of corners and small parts. Contrary to these reviews, it is of course tuned; the major scale is not the world's only scale! It is simply not tuned to a western major scale, so you will not be able to play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star on it. As far as I'm concerned, this is an unalloyed blessing -- if you want to hear twinky little kids songs, buy every other toy on the market. With its hollow, gentle, wood tones, this is perfect for parents and kids alike.

5 out of 5 stars A gift for dad!   April 16, 2008

My husband loved this! :) It's not as good sounding as the larger ones would be, but for its size and age group it serves its purpose. My son isn't in to it, but loves when his daddy plays it and he dances away! :)

5 out of 5 stars Inspire Their Musical Talents   February 9, 2008

I had bought the Plan Toys Shape and Sort for my grand-daughter and was so satisfied with it that I wanted to get her another Plan Toy. She helped my in my decision making process by playing with the blocks and banging them together and "singing". I bought the Xylophone and am very pleased. The quality is what I have now come to expect from Plan Toys and I have the extra added assurance that the toys are lead free. The wooden blocks produce nice melodic tones which my grand-daughter eagerly coaxes from the instrument by banging on it or sliding the stick along the tops of the keys. I am no musician, but I've played with it as well and have to admit......its a lot of fun..........I'm very impressed by their products.

5 out of 5 stars Fun toy   November 29, 2007

This toy is a safe, less annoying alternative to the plastic and metal< made in china, ones found in big-box marts.

I like the wooden "keys" and the softer tones they have...as for not being "tuned" as another reviewer was upset about, I don't know any baby/toddler who will do anything but bang on it anyway...at least this doesn't give me a headache. Plus if my 13 mo old chews on it I don't have to worry about lead paint!
