definitely better than most "lab kits" November 9, 2008 Mom of two 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My son got this kit for his 10th birthday six months ago. Both of his folks are electricians, so he naturally has a lot of curiosity. It's seen hours of use, by a bunch of boys ages 8 to 10. On the down side, one of the pegs on the board has snapped off (doesn't affect performance), and the speaker has been a bit troublesome (sometimes loud enough, sometimes too quiet). On the up side, the issues have been minor, and the pieces are surprisingly durable. The kids are learning to troubleshoot their work, checking for loose connections and misplaced devices. The "blueprints" for each of the circuits are very clear. The snap-together, modular design is far less cumbersome for young hands than any of the other lab kits I've seen. There's a surprising variety of components in this small kit, and enough circuit plans to keep the boys entertained for hours at a time.
Great for the science minded child October 2, 2008 A.B. (WI) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My son loves Snap Circuits. He just turned 6 and is quite capable of snapping the circuits together following the easily laid out colored diagrams. I love the big snaps. Everthing is very durable. We had a little issue with the slide switch which accidentally broke off-my fault. I called the company and they sent out another switch at no charge. I definitely would recommend this to anyone.
Learning Electricity was a SNAP! September 26, 2008 Misty Post (Humble, TX United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After reading numerous reviews in various homeschooling circles, I decided to see if the Snap Circuits Jr. set was as good as promised. It is! Even having gained a more than adequate understanding of the concept of electricity and the way it travels, that light bulb of understanding shown even brighter after working just the first project included in the set. And yes, the pun was intended. For those not realizing how this set works, the set includes a project booklet with easy-to-follow instructions, snap-on pieces of different shapes that provide the electrical path, and a plastic base of a grid with the counter-snaps for the pieces. The instructions were easy enough for my 7 year old to follow on her own with thought-provoking questions of the activities. We were so excited about the fun element to the set, we purchased other sets for children of close friends and family members. We love Snap Circuits Jr. and can't wait to purchase the larger sets for the next gift-giving occasion!
Love this toy September 10, 2008 Mom S (Northern NJ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Snap Circuits are the best. The small set makes a perfect gift for birthday parties as it is different from all the rest and parents love it. I am an engineer and find this toy educational. My son loves creating the circuits and making them work. In addition its very safe. An ingenius idea!
my son's favorite toy September 6, 2008 K. Kearns 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this for my son's 6 yr old birthday. He would play with this over video games. He loves this and he does it by himself. For christmas we are getting him more sets.
