Editorial Review
The Wheels on the Bus Game will probably drive adults 'round and 'round the bend, with its all-talking, all-singing action, powered by three AA batteries (not included). But designed for 3- to 6-year-olds, this combination of memory game, play-acting, and sing-along fits nicely into Milton Bradley's "My First Games" portfolio. Players take turns rolling the musical yellow bus to their space on the board. Pressing the hood tells them which of the four tokens (door, wiper, horn, or wheel) to locate by turning over any two of the 20 face- down tokens. Make a match, and keep the token; collect all four, and it's an express ride to the winner's circle. --Tony Mason

5 out of 5 stars Great for a first game (with rules)   September 5, 2007
Tess of the twins plus one (SF bay area)
Our twin daughters got this game when they were 3 1/2 two years ago and I was a bit leary at first about young kids playing board games. I figured it might be a bit complicated to follow rules. But this game is very simple and a good introduction to playing with others when rules apply. One roles the bus partway around the board and the "wheels on the bus" song plays. The player pushes a button on the top and the song stops with instructions to look for either "wheels" "wipers" "door" or "horn" and the player picks up two cards to see if she has a match. It is that simple. Our girls make up their own game on their own but when we play as a group I ask them to play by the rules. Since they were approaching kindergarten (they are in school now) I figured learning to play a rule-based game wasn't a bad idea. The trick is just getting the four matches and we play a easier (modified by us) version with their toddler brother who can do the matching too.

As for the loud song: we find that nearly every game made now has an electronic song and we tape over EVERYTHING with packing tape on the speaker box. That has made the song tolerable. But, it doesn't play on and on and on. It has been a great first game for my three kids.

4 out of 5 stars GREAT Game   August 14, 2007

I cannot believe you'all, where is your inner child at?? Yes I wish the bus had a on off switch but other than that my almost 3 yr old loves this game and no she is not just interested in the bus. If you read the instructions it says to roll it on the floor, it also says to sing the song and do the motions. The song is not that annoying it's a childs song and it's a childs game. I can't believe some people won't play this game with their child because of the bus being annoying, play for your kids not you.

5 out of 5 stars Fun   January 2, 2007

Our daughter loves the bus!!! She wants to play the game but she likes the bus more!!!

Save all your packaging for this game so when storing the pieces wont fall out thru the cut out on front of the box.

So far fun for us!!!
A Great Gift Idea!!!

I can not believe some parents. The toy is for the child to like not the parents. Personally, I find that the game is fun and educational. Yes, the song can be annoying but you just go along with it and have fun with your child. Yes, the character pieces don't move but that's because they are waiting at the bus stop. Yes, you only have to get 4 pieces to win, but while getting those 4 pieces the child learns. It is a fun game and it should be given a chance. After all, I bet most kids think our games are annoying and boring...So give it a try. My kid loves it!
