Product Description The rules are simple: try to build a row of four checkers while keeping your opponent from doing the same. Sounds easy, but it's not! The vertical strategy creates a unique challenge: you must think in a whole new way to block your opponent's moves! For 2 players. Game includes: grid, two end supports, 21 black checkers and 21 red checkers.
Editorial Review Connect Four is like vertical tic-tac-toe. Unlike tic-tac-toe, however (as the name suggests), you must get four checkers in a row. One player has red checkers; the other has black checkers. To play, alternate turns at dropping one of checkers down a slot at the top of the upright grid. The first player to get four checkers lined up in a row in any direction--horizontal, vertical, or diagonal--wins the game. --Alison Golder

timeless classic December 29, 2008 Anthony I remember playing this game when I was a child and I loved the game. Now my children (7 and 5) are also playing this and they can't get enough of it. It is one of those simple game concepts that are classic and ingenious. So what if it is "low tech" - most kids still appreciate a game that lets them test their wits against an opponent one on one.
connect four December 16, 2008 Ernest Vic Johnson (hot lanta) I haven't opened it yet, but having purchased one before I know the students like it. However, they need to be made a little more sturdy, for rough boys and girls.
Connected more than four! December 6, 2008 She Knows (Ohio USA) I had this game as a child and purchased it for my oldest when she was young. Last fall, my best friend from Sweden came to visit me and brought her two daughters, ages 12 and 10. One evening, when we decided to take it easy and stay home, I remembered this game was still in my daughter's room. I brought it out and suddenly the kids were playing and having a great time, no matter that mine speak very little Swedish and hers spoke very little English....they had a wonderful time and were soon teaching each other new words and making up silly rules for the game. I even play a version of this on my computer, it's very relaxing yet it keeps the mind thinking!
Timeless classic December 4, 2008 K. Grant (NJ) I brought this game last year for my daughter who was 6 at the time. I primarily brought it because I enjoyed the game when I was a kid. My oldest daughter is a bit of a tic tac toe fiend so I got this for her because the concept is pretty much the same, but a single game lasts longer than your typical tic tac toe game. My daughter likes this game, but she enjoys sliding the bottom so all the checkers fall out the most. My three year old also delights in putting all the checkers in just to make them all fall out. The wonders of gravity never cease to amaze my youngest daughter. The construction of this game is not what it was back in the 80s. The plastic is flimsier and that gives the game a cheaper feel over all. You must also assemble this game before playing and take it apart when you are done if you want to store the game in it's original box. Overall, the game is fun and easy for young children to play. The only issue I have with this game is how Milton Bradley has degraded the quality of the plastic. I purchased this game for about 50% off the regular price and I wouldn't want to pay any more than that because I think the plastic could potentially break rather easily.
My Autistic Son Loves This! All Time Family Favorite! October 23, 2008 xoxo (AL USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game is so much fun for the whole family. Unfortunately it's only a 2 player game, but children learn to share by waiting to play. My autistic son who also has cerebal palsy plays this with perfection! He's managed to beat me more times than I can count! Truly, this will give you a wonderful family experience you'll cherish forever! Plus if the little ones want to play real checkers but can't quite mange it, this is the perfect solution!
