I use the beads for myself. October 25, 2008 Elaine (Tacoma, WA) This review will begin with my own experiences with these beads, and later will include opinions of it as a toy from the perspective of a childless person. I have started the new hobby of beading. This kit includes beads I can use for making jewelry. The only disadvantage of them for jewelry making is the holes are very large in the beads. (This would be an advantage to children, I would think.) I have solved the problem of the big holes by either knotting stringing material and slipping the beads over the knots, or inserting a smaller bead inside the wooden one. I was pleased with the quality of the materials and the value for the cost. (The wooden box alone is worth half the cost of the kit.) The colors are very bright and the beads are smooth. The strings included with this kit are like thin shoestrings. They would be very easy for a child to handle, I would think. They can be "un-knotted" when a child is ready for a change in pattern.
Good, quality bead set. October 11, 2008 Darlena (New Mexico, USA) I bought this bead set for my 5yr old daughter. The beads are nice and the cords are easy to string. She has enjoyed making necklaces and taking them apart. This is definately a good toy for a kid who will enjoy sitting and stringing beads.
My niece loves it October 8, 2008 Chandib (Falls Church, VA) My niece lives in a different continent and I had this shipped to her for her sixth birthday. She loves crafts and drawing. And has fallen absolutely in love with this set. I always wanted to buy her something like this when she was little. But now that she is six and her brother is four it is safe for me to buy this for her. Since she has opened the box, I hear that she hasn't stopped making bracelets and what not. I am sooo thrilled that she has a present she will always cherish and remember. We get to hear about it on the phone all the time. Now I haven't seen the present myself, just read the reviews and had it shipped. But the good thing is my brother or her father would never allow her to use it unless it was safe and practical to use. So if they have allowed her to use it, I can trust its a good present to give a six year old.
Very cute September 16, 2008 anonymous I haven't actually given this gift to my daughter yet who is 3 1/2 years old. I am saving it for christmas. Just looking at it through the packaging though it appears as though it's not the real cheap stuff if you know what I mean. I anticipate that she will really enjoy making her own jewelry and that it will hold up. the pieces aren't teeny tiny and I think they will be easy for her to thread the beads through herself with my help.
great birthday gift! May 30, 2008 Beth (Oslo, Norway) These are great birthday gifts for little girls ages 6-8. They love making the jewelry and the colors of fun. Still have to be careful for baby brother not to choke on the beads, but the beads are a bit larger and more durable. Great price for a nice gift.
