Dino Bubble Belly June 18, 2007 M. Parkin (IL) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
In all honesty, I'm not sure how well the toy works. This rating is more for Little Tikes costumer service. My 2 year old received the dinosaur bubble belly as a gift. It is super cute & he was really excited to use it. We found it rather difficult to open, then when we did get it open, it was a dud. It didn't work. Not a single bubble. When I contacted Little Tikes, they basically said that it is another companies product & they just put there name on it. Then they gave me an 800 number to call and thanked me for my inquiry. What a disappointment.
Fantastic toy (but has a design weakness) June 17, 2007 wcc2 (Washington DC) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Our 14 month son loves watching the bubbles come out of this toy. With the right bubble solution the Bubble Bellies makes an endless stream of bubbles (more on this below). My wife or I can keep him entertained for 15 minutes or more blowing bubbles into the wind, building piles of bubbles on ground, or doing other bubble activities. As other reviewers have mentioned, the Bubble Bellies can break. Our first one died when I over filled it; the directions say only to fill it to 2/3 full, but I topped it off. A lot of fluid got inside, which probably shorted something out. Before it died, we had used it every day for those 3 months at least 15 minutes a day. Our son loved this toy so much that I ordered a 2nd (and actually a 3rd at the same time as a backup, in case the 2nd ever broke). We've been running the 2nd one for a month now with no problems. The tricky thing is finding a bubble solution that works in this machine. The bottle that comes with the Bubble Bellies will last maybe 15 minutes of non-stop operation. Then you have to find replacement fluid. We've tried five different types. The best is "Gazillion Bubble Solution", which works just like the original included solution - an endless bubble stream. "Pustefix" also works, but is much more expensive and is used up much faster. Other solutions will do nothing; they're too thick or thin to coat the bubble-forming-ring properly. Note: After buying the two replacement Bubble Bellies, I was able resurrect our 1st, original, dead Bubble Belly. With nothing to loose, I removed the batteries and then immersed the entire toy for about 15 minutes in clean water. I was guessing that the excess solution was shorting out the motor and wanted to clear it all out. I then drained it out and placed it in front of a fan for an hour to speed and complete the drying. Slapped in some batteries and it fired up again. Now we're entertaining our son with two Bubble Bellies at once!
Bubble Maker March 8, 2007 Shannon W. Bothof (Visalia, CA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This bubble maker is simply okay. Since it is a hand-held toy it is easy for kids to tip it sideways when playing with it. This causes the bubble solution to easily pour out and run down the sides, which makes a mess, but the solution can then get into the battery compartment and motor causing the machine not to work. You have to clean it and wait until the whole machine dries out before it will work again. If the machine is held upright it works great and generates lots of bubbles.
