Don't believe the hype January 10, 2008 Kelly N. Roberts (ky) I have heard great things about this toy for a few years now. I bought it for my daughter when she was old enough to play with it, but I don't know if I'm old enough to play with it! You need a lot of patience with these dolphins. Their whistle spouts get filled with water every time you turn around, and then they won't whistle. They also tend to topple over in their little life preserver rings (which don't match the color of the dolphins by the way). The life preservers hook together, eventually, and just when you get them hooked together, they pop off as soon as you start messing around with them. Like I said, you need a lot of patience. They take up a lot of space too, both in the tub and in the tub toy holder. I have found that it's best to just play with one or two dolphins at a time and put the others away. And a low pitch one too so you can actually hear the notes. It also seems to work best to just blow through the dolphins like a whistle, you get a much better sound that way, however, I am not real comfortable with that seeing as you have to blow through the dolphin's rear. So, overall, I would say that if you have a giant tub, a lot of patience, skills with making a dolphin whistle, and very good hearing, then I would recommend this toy, otherwise, stick to the rubber duckies.
Disappointment December 27, 2007 Funmommy This was a gift to my 18 month old daughter from a family member. These other reviews are correct. The toy is not loud - imagine a weak squeaker. The dolphin rings don't stay connected (my 4yo was extremely frustrated), the only "music" they play is when one uses the back of the box to find the corresponding notes with each dolphin and play the notes one by one. My daughter likes to put the dolphin rings on her finger...that's the only thing we get from this toy.
Waste of money December 26, 2007 S. LAMONTAGNE (Eastern Pennsylvania) This is a toy we gave our 16 month grand daughter who LOVES her bath time. What a total waste of money ... The product review by TOMY indicated something that would be stimulating and lend a happy experience to bath time. NO musical sounds were produced by the dolphins, the little tubes did not stay hooked together, and once she removed the dolphins they all sunk. There was no educational merit to this toy at all. SAVE YOUR MONEY
not worth it December 3, 2007 Patricia Dooley (Indianapolis, IN United States) These dolphins are fun to blow through with your mouth, but they work POORLY in the water. They work better when the water has been drained out of them before placing them in their innertubes in the water. But seeing as they are water toys, it doesn't make much sense to do! My boys were 2 and 5 when we got them as a gift. They are now 4 and 7 and still don't like them. I just gave them to Goodwill.
my toddler loves this toy November 23, 2007 springcheer (Bronx, NY United States) Yes, this toy has some issues (sometimes the dolphins get waterlogged and don't make the chirp sound), but it is such a non-issue. These dolphins are adorable and have value in other ways. My son loves matching the colors of the rings to the colors of the dolphins (helps him learn colors). And, my son loves placing the dolphins in the rings and floating them in the tub. My son also loves tapping the dolphins' heads and making them "chirp" (which they usually do). This toy is fabulous. It's a winner! It's one of my top bath toys. My son loves it!
