I know, it seems like I always like writing about the dark side. The Dark Side is not my favorite though! Darth Vader the Saga figure is a okay fig. Yes-- his upper part of his helmet always comes off! And it is super hard to stand him up. This figure is not rare. I found this Dark Lord of The Sith at Target right behind a AT-AT driver, and two R2s. At toys r us I found it behind one Snow Trooper! Not to brag but when I went to my downtown with my family I found it on a shelf right next to a Star Wars TCG Starter and Booster for E3! He comes with a hologram fig and base. For seven dollars I bought it! I am glad because I just finished my battle of hoth collection over the internet. Star Wars Rocks
1 star out of the box, 4 if you have some glue on hand May 24, 2006 Ian (California, USA) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Being an avid fan of dark lords, whether it be from movies, games, or books, i'm always on the lookout for new figures to collect and display on my shelf. So, when I saw this vader while going through my local Target, I decided to pick him up. His sculpt looked good, he had a good pose, and seemed like a good buy. But when I got home and tried to get him out of his box...that's when the problems began. Though you can't tell from looking at the box or the pictures provided, the upper part of Vader's helmet is removable. The bad thing is, you can't keep it on. The upper part of Vaders helmet, no matter how hard you try, will not stay on his head. You can mash it down as hard as you can, yet at the slightest tilt it will roll off, exposing the inner workings of Vader's helmet (including the back of his bald head). It's frustrating to try and get that blasted piece of plastic to stay on, yet it won't, no matter what you do. I even managed to make it come off simply by gently blowing at the figure's face! The second problem with this Vader is that his hands seemed to have weakened. For some reason, Vader can no longer hold his lightsaber. Due to a undesirable sculpt of his right hand, it's almost impossible for Vader to hold his lightsaber. You can cram it in, jam it in, curse and do all you want, yet it won't stay. Rather undesirable, considering that kids will most likely want to have Vader hold onto his lightsaber. Be sure to have tiny rubber bands on hand if you want Vader to hold onto his weapon. A third problem I have with this package lies not with the figure, but with the packaging it came in. The figure I got came in a package that is similar to the one shown above, except that Vader is holding his lightsaber across his waist, where it slips into a small plastic sleeve. The problem is that when you try to remove Vader, the lightsaber is inevitably bent and twisted as you try to get it out. It wouldn't look so good on the movie screen if Vader turns on his lightsaber only to have a bent blade as he fights the forces of good. However, problems aside, this is actually a pretty good Vader. He stands up easily and twists at the shoulders, elbows, hands, head, leg, and knee. He stands up easily and can pose in a variety of posisions. The sculpting is good and the helmet looks dead on. Now, why the title you ask? The reason is this. If you take some glue and cement the upper part of Vader's helmet to his head so that it stays there, then I upgrade the figure to four stars. By gluing his helmet down, you miss seeing his bald head, but that's a small price to pay for having his famous helmet stay on. Overall, if you want to play with this figure and get him into poses, I highly recommend gluing his helmet down and having rubber bands on hand to keep Vaders lightsaber in his hand. If you just want to display him in his box, he's pretty good for that as well.
Everything comes off but its a good collecters item. April 23, 2006 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Only a collecters item. Not a toy to play with. Every part of the body comes off and is very hard to put back on. It comes with a "The Empire Strikes Back" stand and a blood red lightsaber. Cool but not to be messed around with. If getting it dont buy it online or at Toys R Us because its $9. At other stores its $5.
