5 out of 5 stars Fun for all ages - settles arguments   December 31, 2009
R. Upton (Dutch Harbor, AK United States)
These are great - when my wife and I are having a spat I get these out of our sons toy box and we go at it - Settles hard feelings and gets the anger out :-) 1st graders through 4th graders like them too!!

5 out of 5 stars For my sons   December 28, 2009
Mommy of 3 (California USA)
I bought 2 of these for my 3 and 4 yr. old sons. They love them and have gone to town smacking things with these sabers. None of them have broken yet!!! lol

1 out of 5 stars Consider a far more durable, fun and safe alternative   October 18, 2009
T. K. Schonhoff (Seattle, WA USA)
After reading the many disappointing reviews of fragile toy light sabers, I found a WONDERFUL alternative (follow the link below to the Max Skillz Bo Staff Trainer). It's designed for safe and spirited fighting, is very durable and detaches to make two separate "swords". Of course it doesn't glow, hum or look exactly like the movie prop - but the two pair we've bought hold up under very enthusiastic use and my son has no problem imagining himself to be swinging a double light-saber. Buy two kits and you have one double-purple and one double-orange.

1 out of 5 stars JUNK   September 5, 2009

Buyer beware. These not only don't light up but they are the same type junk you can buy at swap meet or road side vendor. Save your money and don't get stuck in the same rut that I'm in; contacting the seller, shipping back, refund mess. Telescoping cheap plastic that kids can clank together.

5 out of 5 stars live and learn   June 16, 2009

I bought these light sabers for my Star Wars crazy three year old last Christmas. After they arrived I thought maybe they weren't exciting enough so I bought another light saber with lights and sounds assuming it would be the favorite. I was wrong. These light sabers are lightweight and easy for a child to hold and swing in a vicious duel. The snazzy lights and sounds light saber has been relegated to parental use. The only argument I hear (repeated with many children as these toys are favorites with all the cousins and friends) is who gets the jedi (blue) light saber and who has to use the sith (red.) I definitely need to get more of these before either of these ones get lost.

Tiki Time! Check Out Idolz

Remember when Greg Brady found that Tiki idol? Their whole Hawaiian vacation was cursed! CURSED! Well, hopefully Idolz won't have the same effect on your Hawaiian vacation.

Idolz are collectible, posable figures that stack to make a sort of action-figure totem pole. You can even wear them around your neck like Greg did! They are funny and sort of quirky with names like, "Gruntor" and "Zebo." G...

Educational Toys: Tangle Toys

For some reason Tangle Toys (compare prices) are intriguing. They just beg you to pick them up and fidget with them. That's why the Original Tangle has spawned a long line of toys with varying colors, textures, sizes and shapes.

Tangle Toys are fun for fidgety adults but I think their real calling is helping kids with special needs. Twisting, turning and curving the Tangle in their hands makes...

Zipfy Freestyle Mini Luge - More Snow, Please!

We've had a ton of snow this winter, and until my Zipfy Freestyle Mini Luge arrived I never would've wished for more. Now I'm checking the 10-day forecast and hoping for the white stuff! The Zipfy is a high-tech, fast-moving, maneuverable sled that comes in 1o snazzy colors.

I test and try every product I review, so there won't be a comprehensive toy review until I get to ride the Zipfy on t...

It's National Grammar Day, March 4th (Or march forth!)

In honor of National Grammar Day, March 4th, I'm outing myself as a grammar freak. I was raised by two teachers, I started learning AP style (the writing rules journalists follow) in high school and I majored in journalism in college. I've been writing and editing professionally for more than 15 years and I do my best to ensure that my writing is free of grammatical errors. Though I'm far from ...

Toy Preview: Chicco's New "1 Two 3 Playhouse"

I saw about a million new toys at Toy Fair, but only a few really stood out as innovative and fresh ideas. Chicco's 1 Two 3 Playhouse is definitely special. (That's pronounced "KEY-co"...it's Italian!)

It's a kid-sized clothing rack with cute little cloud-shaped hooks. The playhouse toy hangs from the rack, flush against the wall until playtime. Then it easily comes out and invites kids in w...
