There are three games that can be played over and over, each one taking about 5 minutes to complete and rewarding players with 10 B bucks. Dazzling Nails lets you paint and decorate a set of nails (you can even select rings to go on the hand's fingers), and then allows you to print out the design so you can wear the nails, too. Great MP3 player for my 4 year old!! August 16, 2008 Melanie Nickelsen (Hood River, OR) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased this for my little girl who is turning 5 in September. She loves the Barbie stuff, so I know she will enjoy her Barbie MP3 player. I have not given it to her yet, but I did set it up and downloaded the software to the computer. While I was very disappointed that I could not transfer her/our music on I-Tunes to this MP3 player (wished someone could give me a good reason as to why they didn't make it compatible), I found some great Barbie and Disney music on her CDs, transfered them to Windows Media Player, and then it as a simple download to her Barbie MP3. I listened to it, and it sounds great for a $20 MP3 player! So, with that said, I would highly recommend this product. I"m not sure if we will get any use out of the other fun stuff that comes with it, but's we'll see come September 29th!
This is the best first MP3 player for a girl! June 27, 2008 C. Fletcher (Upstate, NY) I bought this for my 6 year old daughter for Christmas and almost 7 months later, it's still working well and a big hit with her! She tires easily of certain things so I was surprised about that. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on something that might just get dropped or lost and originally this MP3 was $80+. I paid $50 at Walmart and then 2 weeks later, it dropped to $28.88 so I went back and got the difference since it was before Christmas and hadn't been opened. Such a sweet price for a toy that does a lot. I precharged it and downloaded all the High School Musical songs on it the night before Christmas so it was ready to go the next morning and that was a great thing to just open and be able to use it right away. Setup takes some time, but it's made very easy and transferring songs is also easy. We don't use itunes so I never had a complaint about noncompatibility with that, but I was able to transfer music from Windows Media Player on my pc that we already had and then I purchased some additional tracks from www.walmart.com and they all worked beautifully. Now, when we buy a new CD, we just rip it right to our PC first so we have a copy and then we transfer to the Barbie Girl. I like that it's a small item, but pretty durable. It's not complicated to use and doesn't have menus and screens that can just get broken and dirty. My daughter did complain once that she had to scroll through all the songs to find the one she wanted, but even with 50+ songs on there, it doesn't take long so she was ok with it. The earbuds didn't fit at the beginning so we just plugged in regular headphones and now she is bigger and the earphones work fine. She loved the dressing up part where you can clip on the different accessories, although they are sometimes a bit tough to get off so a parent's help might be needed. I also love that you can just put on the plain pink case cover too if your daughter doesn't want it to look like a barbie or is getting too old for that. This MP3 player will grow with my daughter I think and last awhile. And I can't say enough about the online community. I was nervous at first about letting her use the chat feature, but I make sure I'm right here within eye view and the canned responses they offer to the girls is wonderful! They are too young to type really fast anyway, so it's a good time saver. Barbie girl has now upgraded to a new virtual world where you can pay more and have more features. I wish they hadn't done that, it's expensive but I guess a cash cow is a cash cow. There are super cool features and games for kids on the regular version and they can do makeovers to each other, play games, earn points and buy things to decorate their rooms. Parents be aware that the regular online community does now offer Super B Chat which is an enhanced chat. The users can type in their own words now,but this must be approved by parents to be able to use it (which we haven't done).Teach your children proper online safety and to tell you if anything inappropriate happens. Overall, I think this is a good introduction to chat features and what is means to be responsible for yourself online. Can you tell I like this toy a lot? And at $20, we will be buying some of these as birthday gifts for friends so the girls can chat with each other online too.
Won't work on computer! June 12, 2008 Minglin Yang (walnut creek,CA USA) My daugter loves this toy but it won't work on the computer. But, she just loves the music. She just downloaded Baby, come back to me and say ok from Vannesa's hudgens music. she loves it!
Still can't get the CD to work. May 12, 2008 Cheryl in Los Altos I'm sure my daughter would love this MP3 player if we could only get the CD to load on the computer. Not a surprise though since it seems most of the kid toys that come with a CD never seem to work (ever tried a kid's camera?). Save your money and buy the real thing.
My Grandchild loves this! May 11, 2008 Candi M. Birmingham My grandaughter was so excited to get this Barbie Girl, she loves to be able to go online now and fix her girl up and buy things for her little home and pets. It's awesome, and she loves the MP3 player too!
