5 out of 5 stars Wow, It's Wonderful!   September 17, 2008
DZ'smom (PA)
I found this online and debated on whether to get it after reading one persons review, Luckily, I read them all because I am so glad I purchased this. My 5 yr old LOVES it. He loved his music player before, but can now share his music with us or play it loud while he dances and "does his tricks" as he calls it which is breakdancing! He likes being able to enjoy his songs while having the Freedom to Move about. I have to say that one reviewer said the sound quality was not good, which is why I almost didn't buy it... I think the Sound is AMAZING!!! It works and sounds so well and is super easy just like the player. He likes it so much I am thinking of purchasing a backup just in case. Buy it- your kids will LOVE you for it! :) I even got a thank you letter with colored hearts because he liked it so much. I totally got our monies worth.

4 out of 5 stars A Must Have!   June 5, 2008
L. Gott (Huntington Beach, CA)
Bought for grand-daughters 3rd BD along with MP3 player and case. A bit expensive when you have to pay for all the pieces separately but you really need all three to really enjoy. Hoping to speaker are going to last. Seems they can brake easily if dropped. Also, the fitting where the mp3 player snaps in is not a real tight fit, therefore it moves around and you end up static and have to readjust it. Overall, it's a very enjoyable thing to have just watching the kids sing and dance.

5 out of 5 stars Must Have for FP3 Player   January 18, 2008
Christy Davis (Delaware)
We love this. My daughter got the FP3 player for christmas, she wouldn't leave the headphones on the right way, we were able to flip them around and hold it next to her ear until we got this. She is a sensory basket case.

My daughter has no problems working the speaker, she constantly turns it on herself. It is easier to get the music player out than it (for a 3 yer old). A few times of us not putting it back in immediately and problem solved, she doesn't take it out anymore.

The batteries in this thing are excellent, we have had it since Christmas and haven't had to change the batteries yet.

This can be educational, encouraging self independence, our daughter works the buttons all by herself, the weight is perfect for a 3 year old, slightly bulky but not too heavy. And if you have educational songs on the music player.

4 out of 5 stars Speakers are a must have for the player and younger kids!   December 28, 2007

I wish I had used this more with my older son (now 4) when we got the player. We were trying to get him to use it with just the headphones and for whatever reason, Fisher Price didn't think it would be a good idea to display either play or pause on the screen... so a parent can't tell if the music has started without taking the headphones away from the child, and well basically he would start crying and/or turn it off again before it started and we didn't use it much.

But, my younger son (just turned 2) discovered these speakers and the player sitting unused in the corner and has adopted it as his very own favorite thing. He has to have it everywhere, even in bed and at daycare. He can play the songs himself and navigate the menu, and since it has the speakers we can all tell if it's not playing and help him when/if he requires it (with the headphones its still another story... nobody likes the player with the headphones.)

So, for us the speakers are a must have. But there's another thing that prompted my review today:

I left this as a comment to someone else's review, but I thought it might be more useful here. We've had our player/speakers for over a year and it just started making this high pitched squealing noise within the last month.

I called fisher price today and they said this was a common problem. Even though the unit is a year old, and I have no longer got the receipt, they are mailing me a voucher for a new set of speakers.

They asked me to check the batteries in both units, and make sure the player was set correctly in the speakers. Our batteries were just replaced, and the unit works fine if you set it "just so" in the speakers but if you move it at all the squealing starts again.

Their number is 1-800-332-3457 press # for language (English is 1, French 2, and Spanish 3), and then they have an option for kids tough products (1) but it just kept telling me the line was busy and hanging up on me (!). So, after multiple attempts, I pressed (2) for "everything else" and got put on hold and actually helped.

Hope this helps someone...

Edit: I did purchase new speakers with the voucher from FP. The new speakers did not fix the problem. I purchased a new player to test the new speakers and it works fine with both sets of speakers (Old and new), so if you are having this squeeling problem, note that it may be the player itself.

FYI-The voucher must be used in an actual store, and not in an online store, not even FP's online store will accept it... and you can not return something bought with the voucher, only exchange, it shows up as being couponed off to zero. But the voucher is good for ANY FP or Matel toy, except for a few specific named toys.

5 out of 5 stars It really is kid tough   December 26, 2007

This product is truly kid tough. My 3 year old figured out how to use it very quickly and loves it. Good sound and virtually indestructible. It's a must have for the FP3 player.
