5 out of 5 stars great for little ones   November 22, 2008
JoAnn Stanley (Pineville, Louisiana United States)
the child this was purchased for is a little challenged and she just turned 2 years old, she absolutely loves this and play with it all the time. I would recommend this to all families with little ones.

5 out of 5 stars 5 star toy   November 2, 2008
Karen (Monee, Illinois USA)
Don't ask me why, but this was one of our little one's absolute hands-down favorite toys from about 9 mo. through 3 1/2 yr. Must tickle something in the brain. Makes sounds when you put the cookies inside or take them out. Teaches cause and effect. I recommend this toy!

4 out of 5 stars talking cookie jar   August 27, 2008
Jennifer L. Moy (Jackson, MS)
My son got this from his Nana when he was about 6 months old. He did not care for it at all since it only plays 1 song on either number or shape mode (2 songs total). Now that he is 11 months he's suddenly interested in this toy again. He likes to push the nose which lights up and says different phrases. When it laughs, he laughs too! he also likes to take the lid on and off. I gave up trying to show him how to put the shapes through the holes b/c they are very hard to push through. he has some circles from a different shape sorter and I glanced into his playpen last night while I was making dinner and he was putting circles through the right hole! all by himself! the only complaints I have at that there are only 2 songs and you have to switch modes to hear them. AND the shapes are too big for the holes.

2 out of 5 stars cute, but going back to the store because shapes are hard to fit in holes   August 22, 2008

I have been searching for a shape-sorting toy for my 16-month old daughter. I chose this one because it had good reviews and because I found it in a local store (no shipping charges!). However, after playing with it for a few minutes, I realized that the shapes are very hard to fit into their respective holes, especially the square. Also, it seems that they can only go in one way, with the embossed-number-side facing in; otherwise, it is even harder to push them in. And, even when you line them up just right, the block sort of "catches" on the button that causes the corresponding song, and you have to put in some real effor to push the block in. I can only imagine how frustrating this must be to a baby just learning to shape sort - he/she finally gets the shape right, but can't manage to push it all the way in. Furthermore, even though this is a cute toy, I showed it to my baby for just a minute and she didn't even bother to try to play with it. It, along with the Fisher-Price Stride to Ride Lion, is not one of Fisher-Prices's best creations.

5 out of 5 stars Smart Cookie . . . Jar!   July 9, 2008

This is an excellent toy. My son recieved this toy when he was about 5 months old. He enjoyed playing with it often. Even now, at 2 years old, he still likes to play with it periodically.

This is one of the finest examples of a learning toy. It's pefect for 6 months as you will see that your child will learn from this toy as he/she gets older. The jar will teach your child the numbers 1-5, basic colors and shapes. The little songs as you insert the shapes are cute and not annoying like some toy jingles can be. The younger the child is the more help they will need as all of the "learning" phrases come form inserting the shapes in their slots. Although, my son quickly found the button on the inner rims of the shape slots so he was able to listen to these phrases without putting the shapes in. As your child gets older he/she will become an expert at putting in the shapes and by then he/she will be an expert at shapes, colors and numbers 1-5.

It's also great fun for parents to play with thier child using this toy. Like the jar's phrases, you to can reinfoce the learning by asking him/her about the shapes, colors and numbers.

My son has had tons of fun with this Cookie Jar toy. I would put this toy on a "Must Have" list for any child.
