Fun to play with and a great learning device October 24, 2008 Colorado (Fort Collins, CO) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My daughter can't wait to play with this when she comes home from school. The parts are durable and the diagrams are well organized and easy to follow for a first grader. The experiments are also good at teaching how things work. Since parts can be snapped and unsnapped in and out of place, it's easy for kids to try things to see what happens. The kit has generated lots of questions about how electronics work. Definitely a good value!
My 8 year old grandson is very happy with this toy! December 30, 2007 Pat (MO) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a very educational and durable toy....my grandson has played with this almost continuously since he received it on Christmas. Would recommend this highly!
Excellent Educational Toy - though hardly 'Exclusive' June 25, 2007 NLee the Engineer (Nashua, NH) 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
This item (Discovery Exclusive Kids Electronic Gadget Lab) is both a fun toy and an educational tool. It is essentially a set of electronic LEGO blocks that can be 'snapped' together to build up to 100 electrical circuits. It is also a very safe toy because it only uses two AA batteries. There is even a resettable fuse (Polyswitch) in the battery block to prevent any danger from short-circuit. The designers must have thought of everything. The blocks are solidly constructed and can be easily handled by kids six years and up. The instruction book contains clear pictures and easy-to-following directions for all the projects. My only minor complaint is that it didn't try to explain any basic electrical principles (such as how current flowing in wires can be imagined as water flowing in pipes). I guess that's where adult supervision is recommended. One remark: Although this kit is advertised as a "Discovery Exclusive", it is actually identical to the 'Snap Circuits Jr SC-100' (I have bought both versions so I know). The latter is sometimes available for 30% lower cost, so shop around.

Son really likes figuring out the diagrams and making up his own connections. We bought this for him for christmas and I think he's learned a lot. Funny thing is his teacher just recently bought a whole slew of sets to use for class. Wish I had known she would do that before we bought it but it was still a good buy. Fun to play with.
