Amazon.com Product Description
Phonics have never been more fun with this LeapFrog Fridge PhonicsMagnetic Set. With this engaging tool, children can learn letter names and sounds from the convenience of your refrigerator. Simply place a letter into the reader and press to hear its name, sound, and a delightful phonics song. Great as a speech development tool for ages two and up, the LeapFrog magnetic set delivers hour of amusement, while teaching the alphabet.

Leap into Learning
Kids will dance to the music and their faces light up as they imitate the sounds. The vowels are all colored red and the consonants are yellow, blue, or green. This helps children identify letters and see the difference between vowels and consonants. And as the children learn to grasp and place the letters, the toy sharpens motor skills.

To start the learning process, this toy includes 26 magnetic letters and a magnetic letter reader. Little fingers can easily grasp the big, bright letters and place them on the fridge. Kids can also play the alphabet song by pressing the red musical note. In addition, a handy off-soft-loud control allows parents to change the volume and keeps the music at an enjoyable level. Vibrant colors and a sassy green frog captivates the kids and adds to the fun. This educational toy's durable plastic construction holds up to rough toddler play. Three AAA-size batteries are provided.

Award-Winning Features
This toy has received many accolades and awards from prominent toy organizations. In 2003, it won the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Seal and Snap Award; it was also named Nick Jr.com's Toy of the Year. It attaches right to the refrigerator with secure magnets and is easily accessible when your child is hungry for learning. With lively musical songs and a fun cartoon frog, the magnetic letter set can be a great educational tool for children with a severe speech difficulty, or for those just needing a brush-up on their ABCs.

1 out of 5 stars Terrible for young would-be readers   September 6, 2008
Jeffrey Varszegi (Methuen, MA United States)
This toy would have been good for youngsters if they had simply used lower-case letters. Unfortunately, focusing exclusively on the upper-case alphabet is disastrous for those learning to read.

Avoid this toy if you want your young one to learn to read.

5 out of 5 stars Great for 18 month old toddlers too!   September 4, 2008
K. Eckert (Minneapolis, MN)
I was a little leery of getting this toy (we have the animal one) because it says it's for 24 months and up. We got it for my son at 16 months and he has a great time with it.

He likes to repeat the letter sounds and, initially, changing the letters in and out was a challenge for him. He would spend 15 minutes or so at a time playing with this; and that's a long time for an 18 month old :-)

My son also loves the music button that sings the alphabet song. Overall a great toy; I foresee many years of use out of this toy!

4 out of 5 stars Educational but not fun   August 29, 2008
N. Gu (San Francisco)
My 20 month old learned two letters after two month bought it. I did not really teach him. Now he figured that he need to remember these letters so that he can ask, for example, M for McDonald(unfortunately).
He frowns at the music all the time. Having one song is just too boring.
I like it compact size.

4 out of 5 stars Kids Love It   August 6, 2008
Marianne Cardwell (Chantilly, VA)
Both my boys, a 21-month-old and a 3-year-old, have played with this toy a lot. My oldest got this for Christmas when he was about 2.5 years old. He now knows all of his letters and just loves to read letters everywhere we go. My youngest loves it as well, and I think he's starting to know some of the letters too.
I did not give this 5 stars because it can be loud, even at the lowest volume setting. Unfortunately, this seems to be the norm, rather than the exception, with children's toys.
However, this is definitely one of those toys we have not regretted getting.

4 out of 5 stars Keep it coming Froggiee   August 4, 2008
P. Bhat (Norwood, MA United States)
My 2 year old loves it. Just like some of their other great products Leapfrog delivers!!!
