Caution!!! November 4, 2008 Little ol' me (Pacific Northwest) My mom bought these dolls for my daughters, and sure enough, the phrase Islam is the Light is 100% clear and real. So disappointing, as this would otherwise have been a good toy, but there's no way I'd have this thing in my home under the circumstances. Kudos to the stores that pulled them; maybe it's time to stop manufacturing things in China, since it always ends in disaster?
What's the big deal? October 29, 2008 C. Zullo (Was Boston, Ma. Now South Portland, Me.) I heard all the controversy over this doll and how it says "Islam is the light" I went to the store and played with the doll and u can clearly hear that it says that, well as long as you are listening for it. I had played with these dolls with my daughter in the store before and NEVER noticed this. I think it's not really a big deal and wasn't done on purpose. A little kid would NEVER notice this so no biggie!!!
Great doll October 18, 2008 O. shaikh (Tokyo, Minato-ku Japan) My daughter loves this toy. The animated movements are really good for an item so cheap. Also the doll is durable having taken a lot of knocks. The hat moves around. The items fit in the mouth snuggly and the dolls stops cooing when the item is put in the mouth. As for the controversy regarding the religious message, non-issue for this family (lol).
Doll says "Islam is the light" clear as day!!!!! October 9, 2008 Erin Meyering (Abbottstown, PA) 2 out of 9 found this review helpful
On the Fox 43 newsout of York PA, twice this week (October 6, 2008 & October 8, 2008), they ran a story about the "Little Mommy Cuddle & Coo" doll. They reported that the Fisher Price doll says "Islam is the Light." This shocked me! I bought this doll for my daughter back in July for her third birthday. So... Monday night after watching the initial story I ran & grabbed the doll, switched her on, and sure enough in the midst of her gurgling & giggling she said "Islam is the light" clear as day! I could have kicked myself. How could I have had this doll in my home for months and never noticed this! I guess I just never figured a toddler toy could carry a subliminal message. We will definately be more attentive to new toys in the future. I went to Target this afternoon to return the doll, spoke with the manager, & was told that Fisher Price will not be recalling the dolls & that it was just a fluke that they were only programed to say Mommy. Target was told not to allow customers to return the doll without the box & reciept. So anyway, they are still on the shelves at Target. I tryed each one in the toy dept. & each & everyone of them says "Islam is the light." I plan to email my complaint to Fisher Price. For now though, I shut off the doll & gave it back to my daughter. I told her that the dolly says bad words & is no longer allowed to talk. She seemed content with that!
