Amazon.com Review Fans of Dora the Explorer will delight in the Prance & Fly Pegasus from Fisher Price's line of Nick Jr. toys. This toy, which is based on the 2008 DVD movie "Dora Saves the Snow Princess," features a Dora doll in a pretty princess costume, and a moving, walking Pegasus doll for Dora to ride. This toy gives children ages 3 and up a creative outlet for imaginative play. | What We Think Fun Factor:
Durability: (what this means)
The Good: Pegasus and Dora dolls interact with each other, offer versatile options for imaginative play
The Bad: Pegasus doesn't walk well on carpeted surfaces
In a Nutshell: Dora and her Pegasus doll invite children to engage in creative, imaginative play | At a Glance Ages: 3 and up Requires: 3 AA batteries | | |
Dora and Pegasus encourage imaginative play. View larger. | Two Delightful Dolls "Magically" Interact with Each Other With her movable body, "real" hair and big, cartoonish eyes, the Dora doll will especially appeal to little girls. Under her removable, sparkly princess dress she has "permanent" painted-on underwear. She also comes with pretty purple sandals, a crown, and painted-on jewelry. The Pegasus has a white, plastic body with a "real" mane and tail in pretty pastel colors. His permanent saddle is pink, and it hides his wings until they are ready to appear. This doll comes with 3 AA batteries, and you'll need a Phillips screwdriver to replace them. The Pegasus has three buttons on his neck. Press the purple button, and he will really walk. Press the yellow "transformation button" to make the Pegasus' wings appear. His wings will move while he's walking, and your child will hear Dora sing a special song about flying with Pegasus. Press the blue "story" button, and your child will hear Dora's voice speaking different phrases such as "I love flying with you!" or "Let's run, Pegasus!" The Dora doll can also ride Pegasus. (Make sure she's sitting upright for best operation -- otherwise she'll knock Pegasus off balance.) Dora comes with a special "charm." Insert it in slot on Pegasus' neck and press the blue button and your child will hear a short story about Dora and the snow princess. Imaginative Toy Offers Plenty of Playtime Options The Prance & Fly Pegasus toy gives you two toys for the price of one, with a wide variety of play options. Your child can play with each doll separately or together. She can pretend that Pegasus is a regular horse or a magical being, and the toy's story-telling aspect encourages your child to create and act out her own stories with the dolls. While we found this toy very easy and straightforward to play with, we had a few minor issues: the Pegasus walks well, but if you have wall-to-wall carpet, this might limit your child's play with this toy, as the horse only walks well on hard, smooth surfaces. And while we enjoyed the "surprise" story that's told when Dora's charm is placed in the Pegasus, we wish there was more than one story to hear! However, if you purchase other dolls in the "Dora Saves the Snow Princess" line, their individual charms work with the Pegasus to tell new stories. What's in the Box Dora doll with princess gown, crown, sandals, and charm; Pegasus doll with 3 AA batteries included

Falls, falls, falls October 27, 2008 Allison L. Bartnick (Indiana) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My daughter picked this out with her birthday money and we are pretty disappointed. All it does is fall over and Dora falls off as well. We would not buy it again if given the chance.
Cute until it falls over October 2, 2008 Alexander Lammert 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
The toy was very cute and my daughter loved it, until it fell over (after 3 steps) and didn't work again after that. Hopefully they all aren't like that, but buyer beware.
