Amazon.com Product Description
Everyone knows that little girls love to dress up their Barbie dolls for a date with Ken, a night out with girlfriends, or to just go shopping. Now those same girls can ready themselves instead at this Island Princess vanity. At 32" tall, it's the perfect size for a young girl to sit down in front of using the included stool, and the various secret compartments, hidden treasures, and centered mirror will provide hours of entertainment.

Inspired by the 2007 fall release of the Barbie as The Island Princess DVD movie (in which Barbie takes on the role of Princess Rosella), this vanity features a white top with scalloped edges and bright blue and lavender towers along the back that hold surprises. Compartments are hiding things like castle rooms, jewelry, and animal friends featured in the film. Pull out the center drawer and lower the mirror to discover Princess Rosella's room and hear music from the movie. Even the top of the vanity stool opens, making it the perfect place to stash the included hairbrush when it's not being used.

Two in one fun allows girls to not just primp and role play, but to also use the vanity to reenact scenes from the movie, which includes new songs, with their favorite Barbie. Dolls are not included with this vanity set, but Princess Rosella and Prince Antonio can be purchased separately.

The sit down vanity opens up to reveal castle rooms, a bed, animal friends, and other hidden treasures. View larger.

5 out of 5 stars The dream vanity   January 21, 2008
Yolanda C (California)
I think this has to be the best vanity for a four year old. Its two toys in one! When I see my four year old playing with the vanity I know I made a great purchase. She plays castle or she plays vanity and the special compartments make it extra fun! I love it.

4 out of 5 stars Island Princess Vanity   January 18, 2008
Amy Johnson (Aberdeen, SD)
My daughter was absolutely exstatic when she received this vanity from Santa. However, There is a lot of little detatchable pieces to keep track of if you have younger small children. And the collapsable "table" on the Vanity table doesn't stay up. However, This is a great toy with lots of surprises. Lots of buttons that play music. Very Nice for the money. Better than I expected.

5 out of 5 stars My daughter loves this vanity!!   January 18, 2008

My daughter absolutely loves this vanity. She is 5. It did take a while to put together and there are a lot of pieces...but it was worth the effort. I recommend getting the Island Princess and Prince Antonio to complete the package. The vanity has a lot to do and probably is more complicated than a 5 year should have, but it will grow with her. I know she'll have it for a few years which is nice for any toy. It is plastic and not too durable so if your child isn't ruff, I think it will last.

5 out of 5 stars just what she asked for   January 16, 2008

My 5 yr old daughter was adamant about getting a "princess vanity" for Christmas. Generally we would've focused on a Disney product but this seemed perfect with the vanity and also being a dollhouse. My daughter loves it several weeks later. It was simple to assemble, is made primarily of solid construction. It's a pretty solid product but I must also note I got a great deal on it at $48.

4 out of 5 stars Got it as a gift for Christmas 2007   January 14, 2008
gogirl808 (Honolulu, HI USA)
My daughters (3 yrs and 4 yrs) received this Mattel Barbie Island Princess Magical Castle Vanity as a gift this Christmas and they really enjoy playing with it.

The box it comes in is quite large, and there are many pieces to this set, but it was very easy to set up.
The main pieces of the vanity itself and the stool are very simple to piece together. The only time a tool is needed is when you need a screwdriver to screw in four supports under the vanity to keep the vanity legs in place, but we haven't gotten around to doing that yet and our vanity has held up just fine.
My 9 yr old niece had a ball helping me unwrap each piece and figure out where they go, it was like a great discovery.
And she loves playing with it just as much as the 3 and 4 yr old do.

Be aware that it does not come with any of the Island Princess dolls, but the dolls are featured prominently in the pictures on the box so your child may ask for them.

It does come with many cute play pieces though, like a table and chairs, small dishes, teacups, silverware, and even a candleabra, miniature brushes and pretend perfume bottles, as well as a soft, rubber-bristled brush for your child to use, and much more.
And it has lots of cute "built in storage" places to put the large and small play pieces into, and even storage for the dolls!
You do get a lot with this set, definitely.

It does seem a bit pricey though.
We got ours as a gift.
Had I seen this in the store I personally would not have chosen this as a gift for my girls at that price range, unless they themselves saw it and said that it was their one big item they'd ask Santa for or something.
