5 out of 5 stars Great creative toy!   January 2, 2008
Terri Yackley (Perryville, MD)
I bought this set for my 5 year-old grandson and his 3 year-old sister. They were excited when they opened it and have been playing with it frequently since Christmas. They have great imaginations and Spiderman and Dora have been scaling the castle walls! The set is sturdy and well-made, and I think they'll enjoy it for years to come.

Sturdy, fun and imaginative. For those who still love blocks but who have that great creative imagination that loves a story to go along with every game.

5 out of 5 stars Great themed block building toy.   August 21, 2003

My four year old daughter is very impressed with this toy. She likes the fact that the makers of this set gave her two small wooden knights in armor and two small horses to help her imagine that they are gaurding Rapunzel as she sits waiting for her prince in one of the taller towers. There are enough pieces and accessories to build a nice sized castle. A picture on the box it comes in gives a few ideas on building but really, any child would have no need for encouragement to play this toy. There is no need. *I* even wanted to play with it!

The educational value is priceless. My daughter has told stories based on what she built, uses science and math concepts to build, and there are no limits on her imagination. Socially, it is great when more kids join in. I might get another set just to build bigger castles and towers for Rapunzel and her dragon friends.:)

I like the fact that it is very sturdy, very nice to look at (It looks beter than the picture - if that is possible), and introduces so many ways to play. Also, it comes in its own wooden storage box- something I was not expecting. The wood is very solid feeling and it looks great. I am very impressed with these blocks.

5 out of 5 stars My Four year old loved this   August 7, 2003

This is the toy I cant keep cleared away. My four year old, into knights and castles but unable to make his larger brothers Playmobil castle, really enjoys making up his own designs on a daily basis and is also expert at carefully putting the peices back into its own wooden box. The pieces are easy to handle and in a short space of time he can make a lovely castle with turrets and towers. There are a few knights to guard things and a horse or two. This is one of the best toys we have bought for him

5 out of 5 stars These were a big hit at Christmas   February 8, 2003

These were so popular in a group of five cousins, ages 2 to 5, that they caused squabbles over who got to use them, while most of the rest of the many new presents sat neglected! They are well made, seem quite durable, and a are nice change of pace from the usual plain wooden blocks. I generally subscribe to the argument that plainer toys encourage more imaginative play, but a little color is nice to add sometimes, and they encourage more imagination, I would say, than a Playmobil or Lego castle set, where the pieces are more detailed and therefore leave less to the imagination. A variety of toys could play within a castle built from this set - dollhouse dolls, Lego or Duplo or Playmobil people, etc. Recommended by this mom of 3!
