5 out of 5 stars Great for homeschoolers' younger siblings!   September 4, 2008
J. Emery (Dallas, Texas)
We got this for our 3-year-old son so that he would have "seat work" to do at the table while our older homeschool children do their math. He just LOVES that he can sit and do his math along with the big kids! It keeps him entertained for a good 45 minutes to an hour! I would love to find more inserts since I can see him eventually asking for different pictures. The blank board is great for free design and creativity. I'm extremely happy with our purchase!

4 out of 5 stars Great toy for teaching logic and shapes   May 29, 2008
Melissa Smith (Wisconsin)
My two year old loves the Melissa and Doug toys, but this is one of his favorites. He learned his shapes and colors a few months ago, and this allows him to apply his new knowledge. The magnets are strong enough that they don't slide around too much and the carrying case is a bonus - making it easy to keep all the pieces together. At his age, toys don't hold his attention for a long time, but this one keeps him busy for longer than most. Another great toy from Melissa and Doug!

4 out of 5 stars Fun, but not very portable....   May 27, 2008
A. Cross
As soon as I saw this product, I wanted to get it. The idea was wonderful...my child gets into a panic when pieces don't line up perfectly.

I love the patterns that came with it, but strangely, some of the pieces fit in an awkward fashion on there...they don't want to line up.

Also, the numerous tiny pieces make it difficult to keep them "corralled". I just used a baggie, but my intention was to take this along on car rides. I have a feeling these pieces will disappear quickly if we do that.

Overall, this is a great product, but it is definitely more for seat work. It is not as portable as I thought it would be.

5 out of 5 stars My 2 year-old granddaughter loves this   March 7, 2008
Grandma Ga-Ga (Columbus,, OH)
When I ordered this puzzle there was a caveat that children under 3 would be confused. Well, my granddaughter loves this. Yes, you must sit down with your child and help her learn how to do use the puzzle pattern blocks. My granddaughter picked it up quickly and knows the names of most of the puzzles. She has begun testing new forms that are not laid out for her. There are a lot of pieces, so a child this young will need some help picking them up; hey, isn;t this what all grandmas do? Great for teaching geometric form names.

4 out of 5 stars nice break from overstimulating toys   December 27, 2007

My son is almost 4. He got this for Christmas along with LOTS of other gifts. It is a nice winding down toy for him when his younger siblings are napping and mom is working. He enjoys this toy.
